The St Barnabas Wellbeing Service provides a range of support to patients, families, carers, and bereaved clients across Lincolnshire. Our services include Spiritual Care, Welfare & Benefits, Counselling & Emotional Support and Bereavement Care.
We have a vacancy for a Welfare & Benefits Coordinator as part of the Welfare & Benefits Team across Lincolnshire. The Welfare & Benefits Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the Welfare & Benefits service across the county, providing a central point, of contact for all referrals and routine enquiries in a pleasant and helpful manner.
The coordinator will be responsible for liaising with multi health and social care professionals to promote the service and to offer advice, support, and management of the referral process. Including accurate inputting of the patient details onto a bespoke database in a timely manner. The service supports high volumes and complex benefit enquiries and claims for palliative patients. Referrals are from across the health & social care community and there is frequent requirement for concentration where the work pattern is unpredictable.
Main Duties
- Work closely with the Welfare Benefit Advisers/Senior Adviser & Line Manager
- Support a robust assessment process and appropriate allocation of patients to the advisers providing administrative support & coordination to the Welfare & Benefits Team where appropriate to ensure smooth transition and comprehensive accurate patient information.

The post holder will:
- be responsible for the collection of data to report the minimum data set (MDS) and the collection and analysis of data to manage patient flow and identify service development needs.
- work pro-actively with internal/external referrers to secure additional information/documentation essential to advisers for the effective management of claims.
- be organised and efficient, confident and able to manage a varied and busy referral service.
- work closely with the rest of the Welfare & Benefit Advisers to support patients across the whole of Lincolnshire.
The Welfare and Benefits Team provide an essential service to patients living with a life limiting illness and to their families/carers.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Ability to use own initiative and work autonomously
- IT Skills to ECDL standards.
- Ability to demonstrate you are able to work in a busy environment and work as an integral team member.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Excellent telephone manner
- Previous or current experience within an administrative role are desired.
Hours: 16 per week (Thursday's & Friday's)
Base:Hybrid working with base visits and travel required ad hoc so transport is essential for this role. Base to be agreed with candidate between Lincoln, Louth, Boston or Grantham.
