Job summary

We have a vacancy for an Accounts Team Leader to work as part of the Finance Department.

You will be responsible for the production of the creditor, debtor and cash ledgers. You will manage a small team of Finance Assistants ensuring accuracy of the daybooks. You will aid the Management Accountant Team by completing monthly journals and reconciliations, including bank recs.

Main duties of the job

Qualifications and Experience:

Applications are welcome from candidates with Professional Accounting qualification, e.g. AAT or equivalent. At least one year’s previous experience of managing financial ledgers is essential. Previous staff management experience is desirable.

Salary: starting at £27,000, generous pension scheme, 28 days plus Bank Holidays, flexible working arrangement.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional Accounting qualification, e.g. AAT or equivalent e.g. qualified by experience with a minimum of one-year experience of producing management accounts.

Specific Criteria

Essential

  • Able to take responsibility for own development.
  • Access to own transport for travel to distributed Trust and associated locations.

Personal Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Ability to think laterally and to challenge ingrained ideas. - E
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to resolve conflict and facilitate successful outcomes. - E
  • Experience of analysing problems and identifying solutions. - E
  • Demonstrate an ability to work on own initiative and act independently.
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible and co-operative approach to work and working with colleagues.
  • Sound understanding and use of IT in order to improve service provision, together with a high level of understanding of financial systems and expertise in Excel.

  • A good understanding of Accounting Standards guidance and legislation including experience of the practical application of these rules and principles.
  • Use of software to create spreadsheets / templates for use by self and others.
  • Excel skills must be at a minimum of Intermediate level to enable efficient and effective preparation of financial data.
  • Able to provide evidence of provision of accurate and timely financial information reports to a high standard.
  • Understanding and experience of Balance Sheet reporting.
  • Excel spreadsheet skills to an intermediate level.

Desirable

  • Previous staff management.
  • Experience of accounting for charities and the SORP.
  • Preparation of VAT returns.
