Job summary

We have a vacancy for an Infrastructure Engineer to work as part of the IM&T team. You will be supporting the Infrastructure Team Manager in providing 1st, 2nd and 2rd line support to ensure the architectural integrity and functionality of the infrastructure and applications to deliver Trust IM&T services.

Qualifications and Experience:

Applications are welcome from candidates with at least 3 years’ experience of working within a busy IMT support environment and have a broad range of diagnostic, troubleshooting and resolution skills

Experience of administering and supporting networks – Switch config, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, WiFi

Experience of administering and supporting servers Microsoft 2012-2019

Experience using Hyper-V and Veeam

HNC/D or equivalent qualification or level of experience

Main duties of the job

Job Purpose

To support in maintaining the Trust’s internal IMT Systems and software applications including the development Hyper-V, SQL and image deployment. In addition to focusing on server and network support, the role will also be required to perform the duties of a 3rd line IMT Support technician including desktop support and supporting the delivery of all other IT related services including telephony.

To ensure that all IMT Incidents, Service Requests and associated ICT requirements are handled in accordance with the IMT Service Level Agreement.

To manage future and ongoing IMT development projects in support of the Trust IMT strategy and objectives.

To ensure and promote the continued confidentiality, availability and integrity of all Trust IT systems.

Main Duties:

1. Support the Infrastructure Team Manager in providing expert 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support to ensure the architectural integrity and functionality of the infrastructure and applications to deliver Trust IM&T services.

2. To maintain and support of core applications and software including 3CX, fundraising, finance, HR, and clinical systems to ensure continued availability and integrity.

3. To ensure the day to day maintenance of the Trust server environment to deliver a highly available, robust and secure server estate which meets the business continuity and KPI requirements of the Trust.

4. Integrate, support and maintain core infrastructure components including Active Directory functionality such as DHCP, DNS to ensure a highly resilient Server environment. Assisting in the development of automated support and monitoring tools to facilitate the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of core systems.

5. Responsible for training, supporting and providing assistance to 1st and 2nd line team members.

6. To ensure optimal performance of all IM&T services and the delivery of services by external service providers.

7. Responsible for maintaining and installing hardware and software across the Trust along with associated licensing.

8. To plan and carry out essential upgrades and maintenance on IMT software and hardware systems, while ensuring minimal downtime for users and where necessary working out of hours to achieve this goal. Ensuring Trust change control procedures are followed.

9. To maintain data integrity by planning, implementing and testing extensive back-up and disaster recovery procedures using recognised best practices and technologies.

10. To maintain the security of the corporate network by managing system updates and ensuring network and server devices conform to IMT security standards.

11. To ensure that accidents and incidents, including near misses, are reported.

12. Administration of the IM&T Security Policy.

13. Take responsibility for the troubleshoot of all infrastructure related problems which involves root cause analysis. Diagnose and solve hardware / software faults rapidly and robustly, ensuring customer satisfaction.

14. To plan, design, research, advise and recommend on the acquisition of infrastructure hardware, software and associated services.

15. To project manage and deliver a range of infrastructure related solutions and services, on time and to budget.

16. To undertake the role of a designated Health & Safety representative for the IT department at a least one nominated site.

17. To deliver and maintain cloud-based products in line with the needs of the organisation, proposing policy or service changes for the IMT team and wider organisation.

Main Responsibilities:

The post-holder will be responsible to the Head of IMT for:

1. Ensuring the IM&T Server Infrastructure meets the objects of the Trust.

2. To take responsibility for maintaining a high degree of technical knowledge in order to support and improve the current Operating systems, support mechanisms, server infrastructure and IT Security.

3. To maintain a safe environment within the workplace, particularly with regard to manual handling and electrical safety, ensuring at all times adherence to Trust policies.

4. Responsible for ensuring that the Server environment and IM&T solutions meet IT Security requirements as defined within Trust Policies and as required by applicable standards and legislation.

5. To behave in a professional manner at all times, reflecting and maintaining the values and ethos of the organisation and thereby generating a positive image of St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice and to contribute to the maintenance of St Barnabas’s credibility and reputation in the area.

6. To develop strong working relationships with managers and all members of staff and volunteers to ensure the smooth operational running of the IMT services.
