Job summary

Retail is ever changing and as we continue to transform our stores and grow our online proposition to meet increasing customer demand, we are looking for a customer focused leader to drive service excellence across our online operation.

This is a new role for the organisation and is integral to our Retail Strategy. You will use your creative marketing ability and online retail trading knowledge to ensure profits are maximised whilst delivering outstanding customer service.

Main duties of the job

Youll be leading a team of volunteers who will help you to research, describe and list goods. Always ready to support, challenge and influence, youll be focused on creating and managing a diverse, motivated and energised team who love what they do. Youll coach colleagues to provide a brilliant service to our customers and together youll drive sales on various online trading platforms. A brilliant planner with strong prioritisation skills and excellent commercial acumen, youll have the flexibility to support different customers, at different times, when asked.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Financial Management

Ensure that financial targets on income and expenditure are reached

Comply with all financial procedures and reconciliation and that appropriate paperwork is completed and sent to Head Office

Manage the Retail Gift Aid scheme and ensure that it is captured and maximised on donation of goods

Ensure the implementation of weekly reporting through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), to aid in the management and support of the online operation

Service Delivery

To ensure a high standard of customer service at all times for online retail services.

To maintain top seller ratings on online platforms e.g. eBay.

Ensure that all sold goods are packaged and posted within set target time

Ensure that all sold goods are packaged efficiently to enable minimum loss and breakages

Ensure all orders are confirmed and customers communicated with effectively

Select, research, photograph, and value all goods to generate highest possible income

Describe and display products in an accurate and professional manner and in accordance with the Hospice brand guidelines

Manage stock levels to ensure that target level of goods online is always reached

Manage the pricing of goods sold online to reach their maximum potential

Service Improvement

Track listing impressions and click through rates to identify and suggest positive practices/ areas for improvement

Contribute to forward planning and online sales development

Monitor and respond to market conditions tailoring stock mix to opportunities and competitor activity

Seek and develop innovative new online trading and business opportunities to increase income e.g. Amazon, ABE Books, Depop, Shpock, Discogs.

Perform regular analysis of key competitors

Communication and Teamworking

Co-ordinate with the Fleet & Logistics Manager the collection and delivery of goods and logistical routes

Contribute to the development of online procedures and systems to give clear operating guidelines to staff

Collaborate with Hospices Marketing and Communications team to agree content on the Hospices website and social media to drive sales and awareness of our online offering

Build ongoing relationship with other Retail Managers to co-ordinate the requirement for stock supplies

People Management

Lead, develop and manage a team including volunteers, kickstart applicants and apprentices, carry out regular one to ones and annual appraisals

Lead and participate in staff and volunteer recruitment, induction, and personal training programmes

Develop volunteer recruitment and training in conjunction with Volunteer Co-ordinator

Ensure that hospice safeguarding procedures are followed

Organise cover for holidays and sickness through electronic Cascade system

Attend regular Managers Meetings at Head Office or on Teams

Hold regular team meetings

Legislative Compliance

Ensure compliance with all Hospice H&S policies and procedures

Ensure compliance with all relevant Trading Standards

Adhere to all online trading platform standards, policies and T&Cs

Ensure that GDPR is adhered to in all areas

Participate in risk assessments with Area Manager

Manage, monitor and record all regular Fire and H&S checks
