Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife who is passionate about reproductive healthcare?
We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the team in our Warwickshire Cluster working 36 hours per week over Tuesday-Saturday. It primarily covers our units in Nuneaton & Coventry with the expectation to cover at Stratford when required.
The Role
As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner you'll provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception & vasectomy. You'll be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment & will work in all areas of the unit including theatre & recovery. This role involves providing treatment & clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.
About You
You'll be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) with active NMC registration. You'll have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & have a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge & experience of safeguarding & Fraser/Gillick competencies are essential for this role.
With excellent interpersonal, communication & listening skills you'll be adept at caring for clients in a compassionate & empathetic way. You'll also be comfortable using IT & Microsoft Packages including Outlook & Microsoft Teams.
Main duties of the job
- You will work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the client
understands her options in relation to the pregnancy &, if choosing
termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
- Provide information
on STI Testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, inform
and confirm the clients future choice of contraception.
- Carefully check for
and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including
administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical
preparation.
- Carry out post
treatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and
discussing any concerns
- Complete relevant
paperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements with
the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
- To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments. This
could include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.
We are also looking for:
- Sound & accurate
administrative competence with attention to detail
- Gynecological nursing experience or relevant specialty i.e., sexual
health, contraception
- Venepuncture / cannulation

Salary: £38,219 - £44,625 per annum depending on skills and experience - pro rata for part time hours.
All weekend work is paid at time and a half
Shift Pattern: 36 hours per week over the following days:
- Tuesday - Coventry 08:30 to 16:30
- Wednesday - Nuneaton 08:30 to 16:30
- Thursday - Nuneaton 08:30 to 16:30
- Friday - Coventry 08:30 to 16:30
- Saturday - Nuneaton 08:30 to 14:30
Locations:
Nuneaton will be your base unit with mileage paid to the Coventry and Stratford sites as per the expenses policy.
