Are you an experienced patient safety professional looking for your next role?
We are looking for a Casual Regional Clinical Risk manager to hold responsibility for clinical risk across one of our regions either in the North or the East of the country. This is an interesting varied role, where you will have the opportunity to deliver Serious Incident investigations, hold an oversight of clinical risk in your region and work with local and regional teams. You'll also be involved in national improvement projects and delivering our very well received safety culture training.
If you're interested in Human Factors and how this can be used to transform patient safety, you'd be in the right place. Our team includes two registered ergonomists who will help and support you to develop skills in Human Factors and use tools in your investigations. If you have existing HF expertise, that would be very welcome too.
As this is a regional role, although you will be predominantly home based , you must be able to travel throughout your assigned region and occasionally further for national meetings.
Main duties of the job
About you:
The successful candidate will have significant
experience of working in a patient safety or risk role within healthcare or
similar environment. You will have experience undertaking incident
investigations and producing learning investigation reports to a high level.
With knowledge of and commitment to the principles
of fair and just culture, you will ensure investigations are conducted in a transparent and credible way. Experience of Datix Risk Management System (Mainframe and
Web) or similar risk management system is also key.
Duties of the role:
- To lead on second-line assurance of client safety for a defined region and support The Clinical Risk Manager in national oversight, cross-working regional Clinical Risk Managers as necessary.
- Investigate low-level and serious incidents using human factors methodologies
- Support incident response management at the local level through the provision of expertise
- Hold oversight of the incident themes and trends and clinical risk profile in their region, including client experience and complaints data working with the client experience manager and feedback from the regulatory compliance officer. Carrying out system analysis of safety.
- Assist the Director of Risk and Governance and The Clinical Risk Manager in the delivery of the Safety Strategy at a national level
- To be a patient safety advocate with delegated authority from the Risk and Governance Director to challenge practice that presents a risk to client safety
