As the Associate Director of Communications & Campaigns, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing comprehensive communications and marketing strategies. Your work will directly contribute to increasing brand awareness, engaging supporters and clients, and driving income from individual giving.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop and execute a multi-channel communications strategy to communicate our values, vision, and ambitions to the public and stakeholders.
  • Lead proactive and reactive media activities, promoting and defending BPAS's services and enhancing public understanding of women's reproductive rights and health.
  • Manage a "always on" press office, ensuring efficient media function to respond to opportunities effectively.
  • Oversee a coherent social media strategy that aligns with our uncompromising approach to women's reproductive rights and choices.
  • Act as the charity's primary media spokesperson and ensure appropriate positioning of BPAS representatives in press and broadcast media.
  • Create and manage an impactful marketing strategy, taking into account the business plan, market dynamics, and pricing factors.
  • Lead the development and management of the BPAS website, maximizing its potential.
  • Develop client literature in collaboration with stakeholders and maintain brand integrity.
  • Plan and manage the promotional marketing budget.
  • Lead impactful public campaigns that advocate for women's reproductive choices, reflecting BPAS values and service users' needs and experiences.
  • Develop effective campaign materials across various channels, collaborating with other organisations.
  • Build and manage a CRM database of supporters, mobilising them to advance the charity's aims and objectives.
  • Develop an engagement strategy for clients, encouraging them to become active supporters and advocates post-treatment.

British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) is the UK's largest independent women's reproductive healthcare charity. We work mainly on behalf of the NHS across the country providing abortion, contraception, STI testing & treatment. We specialise in evidence-based, not-for-profit care reproductive healthcare.

Job responsibilities

We are looking for someone who is educated to degree level or holds an equivalent qualification in a relevant area, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, or marketing.

You will have demonstrated experience in developing and executing successful communication strategies and campaigns across various channels, and be proficient in media relations, digital and social media platforms, and social media analytics.

You will also have:

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align communication initiatives with organisational goals and objectives.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Creative thinker with problem-solving skills to develop innovative communication strategies.
  • Genuine passion for the organisation's charitable aims, mission, vision, and values.
  • Commitment to a woman's right to choose abortion.
