BPAS are looking for a Telephone Counsellor to join the Counselling Services team. Reporting into the Counselling Services Manager, you will provide a high-quality telephone counselling service to clients considering or choosing an abortion, as well as those seeking post-abortion support.
You will offer brief, time-limited counselling to help clients navigate their decisions and emotions. This role involves assessing client suitability for BPAS counselling, making referrals to other services when necessary, and maintaining accurate and confidential client records.
This role is working remotely from home for 20 hours per week over Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays, with 1 in 4 Saturdays. A detailed shift pattern can be found below.
About You:
The successful candidate will hold a minimum Level 4 diploma in professional counselling, and be registered with BACP or an accredited NCPS registrant. You should have training in integrative modality and online/telephone counselling, with experience in short-term, non-directive counselling. You should be non-judgmental, friendly, a team player, and committed to delivering a client-led service.
Main duties of the job
- Provide brief, time limited counselling support
to clients who request this both pre and post abortion
- To assess suitability for BPAS counselling and
when necessary, arrange onward referral of clients to other services
- Keep to both contract and session boundaries
- To complete contemporaneous and accurate client
case notes
- To promote high
quality counselling care
- Deliver high standards of care in accordance
with BACP / NCPS ethical guidelines
- Be responsible for ensuring effective use of own
supervision, CPD and mandatory training
