BPAS is an independent healthcare charity which has been advocating and caring for women and couples who decide to end a pregnancy for more than 50 years. We are the leading specialists of abortion advice and treatment in the UK, taking care of almost 80,000 women each year in over 55 clinics nationwide. Nearly all the women we see have their care paid for by the NHS
We are seeking a dynamic Clinical Director to lead and support our remote services team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to our clients
The
post holder will carry out Clinical Director role for 22.5 hours a week and also
undertake work as a remote doctor for 15 hours per week.
As the Clinical Director of Remote Services, you will play a vital role in providing clinical leadership, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and evidence-based care within our remote services. You will lead a team of remote medical professionals, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and provide medical advice to specialist teams. Additionally, you will serve as the Safeguarding Named Doctor, upholding our commitment to safeguarding children, young people, and adults at risk.
The role will also require you to carry out duties as a Remote Consultation Doctor to complete
pre-treatment and consultation with clients
requesting an abortion or other services offered by BPAS remotely.
Main duties of the job
About you:
You will be a fully qualified Medical Doctor with current GMC license to practice, along with some post-qualification obstetrics/gynaecology experience. Computer literate you will be able to quickly assimilate written information and make decisions.
Experience of working within sexual health or abortion care is desirable, along with the ability to coach or advise other healthcare processionals when needed. You will be able to manage and prioritise workload effectively whilst working remotely and have a commitment to client centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership, guidance, & training to ensure adherence to BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
- Act as a medical resource, offering expertise on clinical policies, suitability for treatment, & medical management.
- Represent BPAS in external stakeholder meetings & contribute to medical input in service establishment & policy development.
- Lead assessments & support performance improvement efforts for doctors & clinical staff.
- Participate in clinical governance activities, audits, & risk management processes.
- Manage the remote doctor workforce, including onboarding, line management, & medical appraisals.
- Collaborate with other Clinical Directors to organise CPD meetings & contribute to clinical educational packages.
- Provide medical training & supervision to remote doctors and clinical staff.
- Lead & contribute to safeguarding efforts, advising on health matters related to safeguarding & abortion care.
