Job summary

The core scope of training hubs is the education, training and development of the multidisciplinary team in primary care. As such, they will support the roles being introduced through the new GP Contract including: physicians associates, paramedics, physiotherapists, social prescribing link workers and clinical pharmacists, as well as GPs and GPNs.

Interviews will be taking place on Thursday 26th August.

Main duties of the job

To implement projects on behalf of the HED Training Hub and facilitate operational business working closely with clinical leads, commissioners and key delivery partners to ensure that the HED Training Hub is able to fulfil core functions and objectives against the hub mission and values.

About us

We are an innovative and forward thinking training hub looking to ensure we can deliver in our role to ensure that the right workforce is in place to meet population health needs and tackle health inequalities. Whilst developing new services and roles, we also support and nurture the staff currently employed to ensure we build resilience within our current workforce.

Training Hubs are fairly new and their role is constantly growing which means it is a really exciting time to get involved!

The successful candidate will be employed by Alexin Healthcare CIC and seconded to the Training Hub; we offer 25 days plus 8 bank holidays per year (pro rata if part time) and a work based pension.

Job responsibilities

Provide day-today operational support to the Operations and Business Manager

Provide programme or project management covering projects that have been developed aligned to the core function of the training hub

Work with stakeholders to develop proposals and programmes of work aligned to the core function of the hub and local strategic direction.

Monitor the performance and provide evaluation of current hub projects in accordance with prescribed reporting methods by the CCGs, NHSE&I and HEE as required

Contribute to the progress of HED Training Hub infrastructure plan to support the development of the organisation.

Fully understand primary care workforce requirements and workforce transformation initiatives within the NHS and the current healthcare environment, to ensure pertinent involvement from the hub and appropriate development of education and training programmes

Ensure effective two-way communication with partners and stakeholders, including but not limited to general practice, primary care networks, Health Education England, HEIs and NHSE&I, forging long lasting relationships.

Support the development of student placement initiatives and work with local HEIs to produce clear and up to date records of students accessing placements in primary care in

Be proactive in identifying new training and education opportunities for provision to strengthen the hub portfolio and expertise

Help with the response to invitations to tender for provision of training and education opportunities or innovative programmes of work relating to the hub core function

Seek out new initiatives that will generate income for the hub whilst ensuring excellency in training and development for primary care in Derbyshire

Be a point of contact for correspondence for the HED Training Hub

Person Specification



  • * Evidence of continuing professional development
  • * Experience of delivering projects and programmes of work
  • * Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current, relevant healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement with key hub stakeholders
  • * Must demonstrate an understanding of the purpose of strategic training hubs and their role within the local health care system
  • * Should have an appreciation of the relationship between Health Education England and strategic training hubs, along with a clear understanding of the relationship between the hub and key HED stakeholders
