PIE DevelopmentResponsibilities
1.1: To actively promote Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) and the role of Clinical Psychology within Centrepoint / Partner Organisation(s) services.
1.2: Develop and maintain a dialog with homeless young people / support staff, in conjunction with the wider PIE Team, to ensure that PIE continues to be co-produced within the organisation.
Clinical Supervision, Teaching and Training
2.1: To support (as co-facilitator if appropriate) reflective practice sessions to all Centrepoint Staff Teams as required.
2.2: Contribute to organising and facilitating Centrepoint PIE training, as well as other training in relevant psychological skills and knowledge as required supporting the wider PIE Team.
2.3: To gain wider experience of professional psychology within the third sector as agreed with your clinical supervisor.
2.4: To develop a personal professional development plan with the PIE Lead to be updated annually, and to participate in annual review process.
2.5: To report to the PIE Principal Clinical Psychologist / PIE Lead any concerns about areas of training need / support and attend continuing professional development (CPD).
Research and Development
3.1: To collate information as requested by the PIE Team Lead in response to internal / external requests for such information.
3.2: To undertake relevant areas of research & evaluation (e.g. PIE evaluation), and undertake service evaluation(s) / audits as agreed with the wider PIE Team / PIE Lead. These can include both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
3.3: To prepare for wider dissemination the results of 3.2, including presentations, reports and research papers.
3.4: To encourage a culture of evidence-based practice across Centrepoint in conjunction with wider PIE Team.
Clinical
4.1: To report areas of concern to your clinical supervisor / PIE Lead / wider PIE Team with regard to young people / staff safety or clinical issues.
4.2: To attend and contribute as appropriate to PIE Team meetings / other meetings as directed.
4.3: Responsible for updating electronic records systems and other IT functions as appropriate. Competent in IT software (e.g. MS Office, SPSS).
4.4: To be responsible for own work and interventions and for interpretation of agreed guidelines and policies as an autonomous practitioner, whilst seeking supervision appropriately from the PIE Principal Clinical Psychologist / wider PIE Team.
4.5: To provide neuropsychological / psychological assessments of young people, in conjunction with the Centrepoint PIE / Health Team(s), under appropriate supervision and following appropriate training. To interpret within supervision and prepare reports as required. These may include psychological and neuro-psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with young people as well as those involved in their care.
4.6: To maintain a high standard of awareness of risk issues and ensure that information is appropriately communicated to service staff / PIE Team as required.
4.7: To support the delivery of group based / crises interventions within the Lambeth pathway in conjunction with the local PIE Clinical Psychologist(s) within this borough and the Centrepoint Health Team.
Professional
5.1: To fully observe the HCPC and BPS Codes of Conduct and DCP Professional Practice Guidelines.
5.2: To participate in regular PIE Team meetings, clinical supervision and reflective practice sessions.
5.3: To maintain and further develop high standards of Clinical Psychology Practice through co-operative work with other Centrepoint PIE Psychologists as well as the Centrepoint Health Team and other teams within the organisation as appropriate.
5.4: To be aware of, and adhere to Centrepoints / Partner Organisation(s) policies and procedures, and to work within Centrepoint governance processes.
5.5: To receive regular clinical and management supervision(s) with the PIE Principal Clinical Psychologist / wider PIE Team in an agreed and appropriate format.
5.6: To keep abreast of developments in the practice of Clinical Psychology and Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) as agreed with your supervisor.
Personal
6.1: Ability to demonstrate excellent, clear and effective communication both face to face and written, with the ability to adapt style to a diverse range of people.
6.2: Ability to communicate complex psychological knowledge in a manner appropriate to the audience.
6.3: Understanding of when to be assertive or advocating for our young people, as well as when to be supportive and/or take direction.
6.4: Ability to team work to build strong professional relationships with staff and young people within allocated services, as well as across the wider / partner organisation(s) through being trusted, personable, boundaried, dependable and reliable.
6.5: Ability to work autonomously, under own initiative as well as seeking supervision as appropriate in order that you can accurately keep to defined plans and specifications, to prioritise workload and meet all success measures for the role.
6.6: Understanding of own competencies, with excellent reflective skills; knowing when to utilise clinical supervision or seek additional support / self-care.
Any other duties
7.1: To undertake any other duties at a comparable level of responsibility as may be allocated by the PIE Principal Clinical Psychologist / PIE Lead / wider PIE Team.
7.2: To represent Centrepoint, in conjunction with the wider PIE Team, at relevant forums and committees, including presenting PIE at relevant conferences or other networking / opportunities to build a strong national voice on what works psychologically with homeless young people.
