PIE Clinical Psychologist - Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE)
Summary of the Role and Competencies
This is an exciting opportunity for HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist(s) to significantly contribute to Centrepoints Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) across the organisation.
You will be utilising your clinical psychology experience and knowledge to support the implementation of PIE across Centrepoint, under the supervision of the Consultant Clinical & Forensic Psychologist / PIE Lead.
You will be a HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist, with approximately two years post qualification, preferably with some experience of working with complex needs and an interest in working with young people who have experienced homelessness to #changethestory. The role(s) will involve extensive staff consultation, training and reflective practice within Centrepoint Services, as well as supporting research and policy development across the organisation. There may also be opportunities to deliver clinical psychology interventions / neuropsychological assessments to young people (aged 16-25 years) in conjunction with the Centrepoints Health Team with your region.
PIE Development Responsibilities
2.1: To provide monthly reflective practice sessions to all Centrepoint Staff Teams within the allocated services.
2.2: To provide specialist clinical supervision to practitioners, trainee psychologists and other professionals, within the allocated services, as appropriate.
2.3: Contribute to organising and facilitating Centrepoint PIE training, as well as other training in relevant psychological skills and knowledge as required within the London area.
2.4: To facilitate learnings from serious incidents by working in conjunction with the Safeguarding Lead & PIE Lead to assist in the de-brief of colleagues following serious incidents.
2.5: To develop a personal professional development plan with the PIE Lead to be updated annually, and to participate in annual review process.
Research and Development
3.1: To participate in relevant areas of research & evaluation (e.g. PIE evaluation), and undertake regional service evaluation(s) as agreed with the PIE Lead.
3.2: To encourage a culture of evidence based practice across Centrepoint in conjunction with Centrepoints Clinical Lead and Centrepoints PIE Lead.
Clinical
4.1: To provide a consultancy service to staff teams and other professions, with regard to problem assessment and formulation, and psychological interventions as appropriate.
4.2: To liaise with appropriate professionals and contribute to case discussions / planning meetings.
4.3: Responsible for updating electronic records systems and other IT functions as appropriate. Competent in IT software (e.g. MS Office, SPSS).
4.4: To be responsible for own work and interventions with even the most complex presentations and for interpretation of agreed guidelines and policies as an autonomous practitioner, whilst seeking consultation appropriately from peers, and clinical supervisor(s) (PIE Lead/Clinical Lead).
4.5: To provide neuropsychological assessments of young people, referred via Centrepoints other teams, based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuro-psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with young people as well as those involved in their care.
4.6: To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a young persons mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of their problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
4.7: To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for young people (if referred via Centrepoint Health Team). Adjusting and refining psychological formulations either as a standalone intervention or working in collaboration with staff teams, and drawing upon different explanatory models.
4.8: To evaluate and make decisions about psychology intervention options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the young person.
4.9: To undertake risk assessment and risk management for young people and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
4.10: To liaise with other disciplines and agencies, as appropriate, to ensure best practice is shared and information communicated regarding potential risks to or from young people.
Professional
5.1: To fully observe the HCPC and BPS Codes of Conduct and DCP Professional Practice Guidelines.
5.2: To participate in regular PIE Clinical Psychology meetings, as well as regional Centrepoint Health Team meetings if working directly with young people, clinical supervision and reflective practice sessions.
5.3: To maintain and further develop high standards of Clinical Psychology Practice through co-operative work with other Centrepoint PIE Clinical Psychologists as well as the Centrepoint Health Team and other teams within the organisation as appropriate.
5.4: To be aware of, and adhere to Centrepoints policies and procedures, and to work within Centrepoint governance processes.
5.5: To receive regular clinical and management supervision(s) with the PIE Lead and Clinical Lead in an agreed and appropriate format.
5.6: To keep abreast of developments in the practice of Clinical Psychology and Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) as agreed with the PIE Lead.

6.5: Ability to work autonomously, under own initiative as well as accurately keeping to defined plans and specifications, to prioritise workload and meet all success measures for the role.
6.6: Understanding of own competencies, with excellent reflective skills; knowing when to utilise clinical supervision or seek additional support / self-care.
6.7: In conjunction with the PIE Lead, to demonstrate leadership of PIE within specific region/services, delivering key strategic objectives and improvements.
Any other duties
7.1: To undertake any other duties at a comparable level of responsibility as may be allocated by the PIE Lead.
7.2: To represent Centrepoint, in conjunction with the PIE Lead, at relevant forums and committees, including presenting PIE at relevant conferences or other networking / opportunities to build a strong national voice on what works psychologically with homeless young people.
