About us
Southport and Formby Primary Care Network (PCN) is a group of 15 GP Practices working together with other local organisations to improve the health and social care of our local population of around 129,000 people.
Primary Care Networks are designed to provide proactive, coordinated care to their local populations, in different ways to match different peoples needs, with a strong focus on prevention and personalised care. This means supporting patients to make informed decisions about their own health and care and connecting them to a range of statutory and voluntary services to ensure they can access the care they need first time.
"I enjoy being a GP Assistant because the job is varied and interesting. The role is a mixture of administrative duties and clinical ones and every day is different depending on the needs of the surgery. It's great working closely with the GPs and patients and making a real difference to both of them." - Dave Cowie, an existing GP Assistant within Southport and Formby PCN
"During a standard working day our GP assistant works closely with the clinical team. They review the appointment list with the GP and undertake any preparatory work requested by them, such as a brief history, blood pressure, a temperature, an ECG, urinalysis etc. This essentially makes an acute visit a one-stop-shop for the patients. Patients really appreciate this as it means results are back quickly to aid early diagnosis." - a Practice Manager within Southport and Formby PCN
