Job summary
The 7-Day GP Service is held at Family Surgery, 107 Liverpool Rd Southport during 5-9pm Mon-Fri and 9-1pm Saturday and Sunday. It offers non-urgent general practice appointments bookable via the patients own surgery and covers Southport and Formby.
The Health Care Assistant (HCA) will work under the supervision of the Practice Nurse performing health screening and lifestyle assessments, providing lifestyle advice, perform investigative procedures such as ECGs and phlebotomy. You will work with a range of clinical and non-clinical staff in a happy and friendly GP setting and join a growing GP Federation which can offer you support and training.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities of the 7-Day Health Care Assistant shifts are:
· Lifestyle health Checks. Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients’ health and well-being
· Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that encourage patients to live healthily, and apply principles of self-care
· Sign posting to appropriate lifestyle change support agencies
· ECG’s-Perform and complete administration process for sending results
· Taking blood pressure
· Chaperoning duties
· Phlebotomy
· Equipment checks
· Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
· Maintaining stock levels of stock items
· Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs
· Assists in the collection of specific outcome data
· Work with receptionists to secure safe storage of equipment at the end of clinical session
· Work with receptionist to ensure safe and secure closure of building at end of working day
· To carry any other appropriate duties as required
