We have an opportunity available for a part time Senior Recovery Worker (£11.65 per hour) to join the team at our mental health crisis support service , Open Door based in Stockport SK1 1RJ.

The service provides people living in Stockport access to fast mental health and wellbeing support tailored to individual needs.

Open Door provides a safe haven for immediate crisis management and emotional support, structured guided self help and IAPT approved computerised CBT programmes, taking a person-centred approach to hearing peoples needs.

Main duties of the job

This role will you require you be based at our busy crisis service in the centre of Stockport. You will provide support and care to the people who access the service , alongside supporting staff to deliver a range of recovery focussed interventions.

You will promote and achieve recovery and social inclusion through offering information, advice and guidance and developing opportunities for service users in areas such as employment, volunteering, health, leisure, wellbeing and education.

The successful candidate will also take on senior tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management to ensure that the service runs effectively day to day.

Stockport Open Door is a key part of the mental health crisis pathway in Stockport and was commissioned in 2020 by NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care. Now in its third year, the service has constantly grown and developed and provides the locality of Stockport with urgent and timely access to mental health support.

This role will require the successful candidate to be based at our busy crisis service in the centre of Stockport. A key part of this role is to provide support and guidance for staff on the ground at the service, taking a leadership role in managing emergency situations and supporting the staff team in our service delivery and development with the support of the Team Leaders and Service Manager.

The Senior Recovery worker role will deliver a professional service by providing support and care for service users who access the crisis service, alongside supporting staff to deliver a range of recovery focussed interventions to maximise individual and community assets to promote social inclusion, recovery, wellbeing and independence, in line with the Service Level Agreement and service contractual targets, Making Spaces quality standards, quality and regulatory frameworks.

The Senior Recovery worker role will take on senior tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management, providing support to the Team Leader and Service Manager in the effective day to day running of the service. This could include (but is not limited to); rota shift planning, taking charge of the duty/floor rota, Health & Safety tasks, audits, communicating with professionals, leading on ensuring referrals are promptly administrated and replied to, along with any other enquires received into the service.

Principal Accountabilities

1. To promote and achieve recovery and social inclusion through offering information, advice and guidance and developing opportunities for service users in areas such as employment, volunteering, health, leisure, wellbeing and education.

2. To undertake an integrated assessment, planning and review approach with service users using a range of recovery/ outcome focussed tools and where necessary arrange for more specialist support

3. To work with service users to identify and achieve their needs and outcomes identified in their action plans making full use of personal, social and community assets.

4. To ensure that service users have access to accurate information and a range of support services, for e.g. helping service users gain access to resources including benefits and welfare rights and to review the quality and effectiveness of information available to service users.

5. To work with the Team Leaders to ensure the rota is fully staffed and operational within agreed opening hours, with a senior presence at all times available from the Senior Leadership Team (Senior Recovery worker, Team Leaders, Service Manager),

6. To work with team members to plan, monitor, review and evaluate their work objectives and practices and provide support where team members need this, with the support of the Team Leader/Service Manager.

7. To provide support and guidance to Recovery Workers. To demonstrate leadership in emergency situations, or where safeguarding concerns present, to support the Recovery Worker Team to ensure the best possible care for the Service User, with support from Team Leaders/Service Manager.

8. To maintain accurate records, statistics, achieving and evidencing outcomes where appropriate, including supporting the Team Leader and Service Manager with information required for reports and monitoring information in line with the service level agreement and Making Spaces requirements.

9. To work with team members to plan, monitor, review and evaluate their work objectives and practices. To ensure the quality of the work of team members and to provide ongoing support for them.

10. To liaise and maintain effective partnerships with external agencies to identify work experience, training, voluntary work for people with mental health conditions.

11. With the support of the Team Leader, to take responsibility for ensuring and achieving the objectives of the Making Space Health and Safety Policy, adopting working practices that minimises risk and maintains own and others health, safety and security

12. Adhere to and work within all the policies of Making Space such as protection of adults at risk, child protection policy, confidentiality and data protection policies, and report any suspicion of risk through Local Authority Safeguarding Policies

13. To comply with the Skills for Care Code of Conduct and any relevant NICE guidelines

14. To demonstrate responsibility and leadership for promoting and championing all aspects of equal opportunities by valuing diversity in all areas of work.
