Lymphoedema Nurse

Job responsibilities

The role of a Lymphoedema Nurse is to utilise their passion for lymphoedema management and their growing skills in the care of complex patients in the population we serve. They will be a contributory member of the team, helping advance both the service and the mission. Being a team player and bringing energy is essential.

The nurse will be accountable to and provide direct support to the Specialist nurse or Clinical Lead. This will enable effective management of patient and team objectives whilst remaining focussed on our mission.

The purpose of the Lymphoedema Nurse in Accelerate is to

1. Provide skilful care and management to the population, delivered in a thoughtful, creative and timely manner. Being solution focussed and collaborative are key features of this role.

2. Championing delivery of all aspects of the service under direction of the Delivery Lead; this includes the creation of efficiencies and productive working

3. Providing daily management within the Accelerate Treatment Centre and homes across Tower Hamlets community where necessitated

4. Encourage individualised care that enables people to tolerate treatments and thereby improve outcomes

5. Enhance the delivery of Quality improvement initiatives, KPIs and internal audit

6. Bringing critique to internal and external systems, creating positive change through effective team working

7. Assist in the delivery of informal education to peers and patients

Experience

Essential

• Minimum 1 year nursing experience post qualification
• Clinical experience of patients with long term conditions
• Experience of wound management
• Experience of lower limb and general lymphoedema management

Desirable

• Experience of compression bandaging
• Experience of working within a community team
• Knowledge of Quality Improvement in health care

• Able to operate with minimal supervision in implementing and evaluating care for patients
• Good communication skills and fluent in English: written and verbal

Qualifications

Essential

• First level Registered Nurse
• Current NMC qualification or equivalent

• Wound management course

• Holds valid UK work permit

• Holds current Drivers Licence and willing to use.
