We have a unique opportunity for a School Therapist to join Northpoint's School Services in the Temple Newsam Cluster Partnership on a part time basis. The Cluster Team | TNCP

Main duties of the job

This role will involve delivering one-to-one short-term therapeutic interventions to primary and secondary school aged children and young people referred into the cluster. You will be working closely with the cluster team, school staff and other stakeholders to provide emotional and mental health support. As a School Therapist, you will be part of a collaborative team dedicated to improving the wellbeing of children and young people.

Job responsibilities

What you will be doing as a School Therapist:

As a School Therapist in TNCP, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering one-to-one short-term therapeutic interventions to primary and secondary school-aged children and young people referred into the cluster.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with school staff and management teams.
  • Assessing and determining the need for intervention with children and families referred.
  • Holding a caseload of children and young people, conducting assessments, and formulating emotional and mental health needs.
  • Providing evidence-based individual interventions in various school settings.
  • Collaborating with the School team to identify appropriate practitioners or CAMHS pathways for onward referrals.
  • Offering consultation and advice to school staff and professionals as needed.
  • Working across the schools in the cluster to provide support where required.
  • Ensuring safeguarding concerns are addressed appropriately and contributing to safeguarding processes.
  • Maintaining confidential records in line with Northpoint's procedures.
  • Collaborating with other professionals to ensure therapeutic services are evidence-based and tailored to the client group.
  • Communicating with parents and families according to Northpoint's guidelines.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • A relevant therapeutic qualification *A relevant therapeutic qualification would include a diploma from a BACP-accredited training (or equivalent**) OR a relevant HCPC-registered title (i.e. art therapist, arts psychotherapist, drama therapist, counselling psychologist, clinical psychologist).
  • **NB Equivalent therapy qualifications from non-accredited courses should be of a level that would be recognised for professional accreditation purposes and sufficient to practise as a counsellor/therapist (i.e. minimum of 450 taught hours over at least 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time, supervised practice within a therapeutic organisation, with teaching which covered elements of theory, skills practice, professional issues and personal development).

Desirable

  • Further training in working therapeutically with children and young people
