Job summary

A rare and exciting opportunity to work in a paid full time training role as a Children and Young People Wellbeing Practitioner (CYWP) in Calderdale or Kirklees.

Main duties of the job

We are currently recruiting for 4 new training posts to start the Postgraduate Certificate in Evidence Based interventions to commence in January 2025.

CYWP trainees provide low intensity interventions for anxiety, depression and conduct problems including guided self-help.

About us

The trainees will work in Northorpe Hall Child & Family Trust in Kirklees or with Invictus Wellbeing in Calderdale (2 vacancies with each organisation), with employment as a qualified CYWP on successful completion of the 12 month training course.

The posts are part of the Children and Young Peoples Psychological Trainings initiative which is intended to increase and upskill the children & young peoples mental health workforce. Applicants should have experience of supporting children and young people with their mental health/wellbeing. They need to be willing to undertake an intensive training course and they must be able to demonstrate the aptitude to study at Level 6.

The 1 year full time training course is provided by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with the University of Manchester and trainees will study in person for one or two days per week. The rest of the working week will be based in-service using the skills gained during the training.

Trainee CYWPs are paid on NHS Agenda For Change pay band 4 (or equivalent), and will progress to NHS band 5 (or equivalent) on successful completion of the 12 month training.

  • Evidence of ability to study successfully at undergraduate level (level 6) or the equivalent through a proven academic record of previous learning/formal study in Child Development, Well-being or Mental Health.
  • Evidence of study at level 5.
  • Evidence of numeracy skills.
  • Willing to participate in any relevant training identified to develop skills required to carry out duties.

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level (candidates who do not have a degree will need to evidence their competency by completing an essay).
  • Maintains a portfolio of CPD in line with regulatory body standards.
