We have a unique opportunity for aSenior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join our team at LMWSto develop and support the Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) and PWP service provision within Leeds IAPT.

The aim of the role is to develop and support the Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) and PWP service provision within Leeds IAPT. With responsibility for developing, supporting and providing training on innovative practice to MHPs and qualified and trainee PWPs in all areas of their work including face to face clinical work, screening hub role and classes/groups

Whilst continuing to provide high volume evidence based interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression

Main duties of the job

Job Purpose:

The post holder will develop and support the Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) and PWP service provision within Leeds IAPT. They will continue to provide high volume evidence based interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression and will be responsible for developing, supporting and providing training on innovative practice to MHPs and qualified and trainee PWPs in all areas of their work including face to face clinical work, screening hub role and classes/groups.

The post holder will also carry out significant clinical/case management supervision and supervise and/or line manage MHPs.

The post holder will also be responsible for co-ordinating the MHP and PWP function of the Screening hub, ensuring the smooth running of this function, including the provision of Duty worker shifts on a rota basis.

Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service deliver a service that is patient focussed and evidence based for people with Common Mental Health Disorders complying with the National IAPT Programme. The service is delivered as a partnership of NHS and third sector providers.

The service comprises of Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Community Links, Touchstone, Northpoint Wellbeing, Women's Counselling and Therapy Service, Home-Start Leeds, IESO Digital, Silvercloud and SignHealth.

Together we provide a range of different therapies and mental health support at venues throughout the city.

Job responsibilities

Main duties:

  • Clinical and case manager supervision of Mental Health Practitioners (MHPs)

  • Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service. Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.

  • Assess and support people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery. Ensure support undertaken is meaningful, respectful, promotes self-determination and in line with the individuals goals.

  • Undertake patient centred interviews which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.

  • To work with managers and colleagues to identify, manage and minimise risks within the overall Leeds IAPT and the employing organisations risk management frameworks.

  • Provide effective clinical supervision for MHPs through both individual case management supervision and via the role of duty worker shifts.

  • Identify learning and development needs across the team of MHPs and develop routes for CPD in coordination with the Consortium Leadership Team.

  • Provide clinical leadership for the consortium MHPs and PWPs as duty worker on the Screening hub, in facilitator role in clinical skills group supervision and in the development and delivery of other training and service development events

  • Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high volume low intensity psychological treatments. This may include guided self help, psycho-educational classes, computerised CBT, information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media.

  • To ensure that client records and other information systems are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.

  • To ensure that support undertaken is meaningful, respectful, promotes self-determination and is in line with the individual treatment plan.

  • To adhere to organisational policies and procedures relating to risk and personal safety.

  • To contribute to the achievement of annually set individual and team targets.

  • Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating body, and keep up to date on new recommendations or guidelines set by the department of health (e.g. NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).

  • To participate in regular supervision

  • Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times.

  • General:

  • Post Graduate Certificate in evidence based psychological treatments (IAPT pathways_ ot equivalent
  • Supervision training in IAPT (LI) pathways from an accredited university (or nearing completion)

Experience

  • Experience of working in a stepped care setting with one years or more of post PWP qualification experience within an IAPT service
  • Experience of working in a service where agreed targets are in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
  • Experience of mental health either as service user, carer, worker or volunteer
  • Experience of delivering effective case management and/or clinical supervision
  • Experience of supporting service development and the ability to co-ordinate service delivery
  • Experience of community or development work

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge and ability to deliver High Volume Low Intensity evidenced based interventions in groups or to individuals referred to the service in line with IAPT prescribed protocols.
