Job summary
We are seeking a School and Parent Therapists to work within the Leeds Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC).
This is a 12 month maternity cover (21 hours per week, all year round).
The therapist will provide short term, evidence based therapeutic interventions with individuals informed by a family systems approach. The therapist will deliver one-to-one and group-based short-term evidence-based therapeutic interventions to primary and secondary school pupils who attend the SILC. The therapist will also provide therapeutic input and assessment to the SILC Cluster team and make onward referrals to specialist services where required as well as work with parents/carers.
Main duties of the job
Delivery of the therapeutic service in the SILC, working with colleagues to promote the service, liaising with school staff and other stakeholders.
Liaising with SILC Cluster and school staff on referrals, assessing and determining the need for intervention with children and families referred.
Holding a caseload of children and young people and parents/carers at any one time.
Holding a caseload of referrals and gathering information to allow accurate assessment and formulation.
Delivery of short-term evidence-based individual interventions to pupils and families who are referred through the Cluster.
Delivery of group interventions.
Assisting the cluster team to establish the most appropriate cluster practitioner to work with specific referrals or provide supporting information for onward referrals.
Offering consultation and advice to school staff, cluster and other professionals.
Providing clinical support, guidance and input to school and cluster-based staff.
Attending/contributing to referral and planning meetings.
Taking a proactive approach to ensuring safeguarding concerns are raised appropriately, and contributing to EHCP/safeguarding processes.

Northpoint Wellbeing has provided school-based counselling since 2009, and now works with children, young people and families by providing a school therapy service in 17 Leeds clusters of schools across the city as part of the Leeds Mindmate Wellbeing Contract. We are also providing therapeutic support to schools in York, Doncaster & Harrogate.
