told us they want to be supported by staff who can identify with them, who have
empathetic skills, who listen, and who involve them in decisions about
their care. Young people also felt the mental health workforce should be
representative of the population in terms of ethnicity, gender, disability,
sexuality, and lived experience (i.e. service users or member of a vulnerable
group).
About us

Northorpe Hall, Northpoint Wellbeing, the University of Manchester, and
representative children & young people.
Northpoint and Northorpe Hall are both independent charities that provide
a wider range children and young peoples mental health support. Northorpe are
based in Mirfield and cover the Kirklees area. Northpoint have an office in
Halifax and cover Calderdale. Both organisations provide much of their support
in schools and accessible community venues.
Both Northpoint and Northorpe provide the single point of access
for mental health referrals in their area. The trainees will work within the
existing friendly and supportive staff teams, which consist of a number of
qualified and experienced staff, including CYWPs .
The relevant employing organisation will also provide access to
suitable clients, venues, links to schools, IT equipment, peer support, access
to secure patient management systems etc.
