Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced part-time (hours can be negotiated) Assistant Practice Manager to join our very friendly team at Albert Road Surgery in Jarrow. You will work closely with the whole team to ensure the daily workload is completed and manage ad-hoc work given by the management team. We are looking for someone with excellent time keeping and organisational skills, with a proven ability to manage and complete complex administrative tasks up against competing workloads and sometimes working to short deadlines. You must have excellent written & oral communication skills and strong interpersonal and team-working skills with a proven ability to make sound independent decisions based on knowledge and expertise. It is a busy and varied role, with a high level of responsibility so you will need to be dependable, motivated, adaptable & flexible.
Main duties of the job
Monitor
the generic email account and action/share emails appropriately
Create
and run EMIS searches as and when required
Create
and maintain spreadsheets such as pre-diabetics recall and others upon request
To
participate in department and practice staff meetings and any other meetings as
required.
To keep
yourself up to date with relevant training
The
post holder may be required to work at our other practice, Whitburn Surgery, to
help cover sickness and holiday absences.
Supporting
the practice manager in the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring
staff achieve their primary responsibilities and the practice delivers a
consistently high standard of care in a safe and effective manner
Providing
leadership and guidance to all practice staff
Ensuring
staff adhere to policy and procedure at all times
Support
the practice manager in the reviewing and updating of practice policies and
procedures
Lead
on developing, implementing and embedding an effective practice training
programme for all administrative staff liaising with external agencies when necessary
and maintaining a training record (Bluestream Academy).
Support
the practice manager with managing the clinical system, ensuring IT security
and IG compliance is adhered to at all times
Guiding
staff and developing searches and audits on the clinical system
Reviewing
and updating clinical templates ensuring they relate to current practice

Albert Road Surgery is a small-sized GP Practice with just over 3000 patients situated in the centre of Jarrow, very close to good transport links, schools, independent shops & businesses.
The practice aims to provide excellent clinical care to our patients within a supportive, sustainable environment for our team. We are part of Primary Care Network West, delivering services to patients in the close surrounding area, as well as the whole of South Tyneside.
