The Director of Finance and Corporate Services is a new Board level role within HUC and will be pivotal to continuing to meet our strategic aims and support sustainable growth and development through the provision of effective financial management, digital, governance, corporate services, and risk management. The post-holder, together with the Executive Board will be responsible for leading our Finance, Digital and People functions, whilst supporting the development and implementing HUC's strategic plans in accordance with the vision of the organisation.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties include, but not limited to:
- Financial planning and related ongoing advice for the Chief Executive and the Board.
- Support and Head of Assurance and Company Secretary in ensuring that all legal and mandatory responsibilities of the organisation are met.
- Provide Board level leadership and delivery assurance of HUC's digital function.
- Work both internally and externally to develop, implement and deliver an effective workforce strategy to support recruitment and retention.

Education and Qualification
Essential
- Qualified Accountant with a good first Degree.
- Chartered member or Fellow of the CIMA / ACA, or equivalent with relevant CPD.
- Full UK driving Licence or the ability to travel to HUC and commissioner locations.
- Significant post qualification experience
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable commitment to and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion.
- An experienced Finance professional with financial and planning background with general management experience generalist with sound knowledge of digital best practice, together with HR and governance.
- Experience in management of an organisations finance function include budgeting, cost control, audit and statutory returns.
- Strong commercial and business acumen demonstrating a pro-active role in making Finance and Digital central to the growth and development of HUC.
- Will demonstrate evidence of having developed high-performing teams, mentoring and developing individual team members whilst valuing diversity ideally an individual working at Board level with Executive and Non-Executive/Trustee experience gained with both the commercial and not for profit sectors.
- Must be able to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information; negotiate with senior stakeholders on difficult and controversial issues and present complex and sensitive information to large and influential groups, sometimes in a difficult and hostile environment.
- Demonstrate strong business acumen and superior analytical, evaluative and negotiating skills with the ability to effectively interpret and use date to support decision making.
- Possess a track record of leadership of effective teams, ability to influence to achieve change, and have excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong technical ability and understanding of effective process and systems to support sound digital and financial management and planning.
- A role model in maintaining the highest integrity and credibility across all parts of the organisation, particularly gaining the trust and confidence of the senior leadership team
