As a Shift Manager, you will be working closely with colleagues from across HUC to resolve issues and ensure that your area of the business keeps pace with the demands of the service. Out of hours, the Shift Manager is ultimately responsible for the management of the service, staff, and workload during the shift, overseeing the full Integrated Urgent Care service.
Main duties of the job
- Oversight of the full Integrated Urgent Care Service
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of the staff on duty during their shift, addressing any performance issues whilst on shift.
- Responsible for managing the operational workload on shift and making decisions in liaison with the CAS clinicians to ensure our patients receive safe and effective service at all times.
- Developing an understanding of when it is necessary or appropriate to escalate to the on-call management after liaison with relevant on duty resources.
- During the shift regular monitoring and understanding of the standard quality requirements for the IUC Service and/or services and ensure compliance by proactively addressing situations and moving resources accordingly.
- Leading, managing and motivating the team on shift working effectively with a range of disciplines including clinical and nonclinical staff within the MCAS team.
- Lead responsibility for any contingency during the shift for example loss of services, telephones, IT, electricity etc.
- Act as key contact for any health and safety issues that occur on shift including Fire Marshal and First Aid.
- Proactive management of patient complaints during the shift and wherever possible resolving the complaints concerns.
