Job summary

The Cloud Support Engineer will be the architect and owner of HUCs Microsoft Azure estate. The role is focused on ensuring that the HUC Microsoft Azure estate is designed using best practice and that any discovered faults are resolved in a timely manner.

The position will entail reviewing existing deployments of the Azure stack, as well as the future migration of servers and services. The role will review the requirements of HUC regularly, and the offerings of Azure and will help decide future cloud strategy including the use of alternative cloud providers.

Main duties of the job

  • Design solutions utilising public and private cloud to support HUC services
  • Maintain and support existing cloud solutions
  • Support for clinical software (Adastra and SystmOne).
  • Ensure that security standards are at the appropriate level across both public and private cloud
  • Maintain accurate documentation of estate and key processes related to the cloud
  • Ensure that all data held in the cloud has appropriate back ups and retention policies applied
  • Ensure that cloud spend is kept under control through the use of just in time resource management and the removal of any obsolete services
  • Use scripting technologies such as powershell to increase automation for the management of cloud systems
