Job summary

BETH are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Nurse to join the clinical team and work alongside the current Lead Nurse. The successful candidate will be a strong leader, passionate about education, and committed to improving the quality of nursing practice. Training hubs have been rolled out across the country to meet the educational needs of the multi- disciplinary Primary Care team and support the development of our current and future workforce. Training hubs are tasked with not only ensuring the delivery of quality education, training and support for our existing workforce but also supporting workforce planning (including recruitment, retention and return of all staff groups) and are an essential vehicle of workforce transformation. As part of this remit, training hubs are tasked with supporting the training of our future workforce and facilitating the development of new and emerging roles. Training hubs aim to bring together NHS organisations, community providers, local authorities and education providers to deliver a broader education platform thanthe more traditional single approach. Every Primary Care Network (PCN) will have access to training hub resources.

Main duties of the job

To work with BETH lead nurse colleague to support the provision of GPN placements for students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;

To lead or support initiatives to establish new roles within primary care and support the development of the nursing workforce;

To support co-ordination, commissioning and quality management of the education and training provision in the local system including CPD;

To ensure equitable access to education and training;

To work closely with the training hub clinical directors and wider south east London workforce development team and ensure multiprofessional education and development opportunities are optimised;

To provide leadership and support to the Bromley PCN nurse facilitators and Bromley development nurse facilitators.

To maintain own clinical practice;

To assist with training where necessary;

To support the running of locality based nurse forums

The SEL Workforce Development Hub is the training hub for South East London working collaboratively with the six borough hubs to provide training, education and other support to Primary Care. We support over 200 practices and 36 PCNs.

Work as part of the Training Hub team to develop and sustain strong professional and interprofessional networks supporting learning, and development for all primary care staff;

To signpost the primary care nursing workforce to education and training opportunities; taking into account local needs;

To ensure that there are appropriate processes in place to induct all new support staff and students to primary care placements;

To ensure that the standards and objectives of the educational agreement between the learning environment and HEI are met;

To ensure that students and apprentices have a named mentor (and preceptor where appropriate);

To ensure that people understand the value of learning in the workplace;

To ensure that support staff competencies are assessed and that they are not asked to work beyond those competencies unless supervised;

To support managers and mentors in using mechanisms that are in place to identify underperforming students and support staff and that appropriate actions are taken;

To ensure that careers support is available.
