Job summary

The HR Officer will put their skills to use in a very rewarding environment. Strong IT skills are essential, as are good communication skills and the ability to prioritise a busy workload whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will deputise for the Head of Human Resources and ensure the HR Team delivers and comprehensive and professional HR Service to all departments and services across Bromley GP Alliance.

The post holder will provide advice and guidance to Line Mangers regarding a wide variety of HR Issues, including absence management, disciplinary and performance management.

BGPA is a federation of all 43 Bromley practices working collaboratively to enhance the health and wellbeing of Bromley residents, covering over 350,000 patients, 100% of the Bromley population.

BGPAs partner organisation is Bromley Education and Training Hub (BETH). BETH supports education, training and professional development across primary care in Bromley and beyond.

To work as part of the HR Team to ensure a first-class call HR Service is delivered to the BGPA workforce.

Duties and Responsibilities as HR Officer

Deputise for the Head of HR

Leave, dismissals, terminations and disciplinary processes;

Uploading all documents onto a HR system;

Probationary periods;

GDPR Compliance with HR Data;

Supporting HR leader with complex and on-going cases;

New employee paperwork compliance and inductions;

General HR administration;

Long term absences and holidays;

Managing HR inbox and responding to first line queries and reporting on the SLA;

Recruitment process and procedures;

Monitor, review and update all policies in line with current legislation and best practices;

Amending and updating any New Starter information;

Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR systems and practices;

Processing New Starter forms/ paperwork;

Supporting with elements of payroll

Personal/Professional Development

Participate in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintain a record of own personal and/or professional development

Handle confidential patient material in a sensitive and discrete fashion in compliance with Bromley GP Alliance policy and procedure.

To be able to influence, motivate and involve individuals and teams to reach necessary performance target expectations.

Liaise with other departments and members of the Bromley GP Alliance and other organisations to ensure the smooth running of the office and to assisting the functioning of the team.

The post holder is required to follow Bromley GP Alliance policies and procedures which are regularly updated including:

Confidentiality / Data Protection / Freedom of Information

Post holders must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business in accordance with the Data Protection Act of 1998. Post holders must not, without prior permission, disclose any information regarding patients or staff. If any member of staff has communicated any such information to an unauthorised person those staff will be liable to dismissal. Moreover, the Data Protection Act 1998 also renders an individual liable for prosecution in the event of unauthorised disclosure of information. Following the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) 2005, post holders must apply the Bromley GP Alliances FOI procedure if they receive a written request for information.

Risk Management

All post holders have a responsibility to report risks such as clinical and non-clinical accidents or incidents promptly. They are expected to be familiar with the Trusts use of risk assessments to predict and control risk, as well as the incident reporting system for learning from mistakes and near misses in order to improve services. Post holders must also attend training identified by their manager, or stated by the Trust to be mandatory.

Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
