Job summary

We are recruiting for a part time Cook to join our friendly catering team at the Hospice in Brentry.

Working in a supportive and collaborative environment for a much-loved local Charity dedicated to making a difference in the lives of thousands of patients, their families and carers when it matters most, you will help to prepare, cook and serve food and beverages to patients.

The details:

  • Working 20 hours per week (4 hours per day) on a Monday Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 14.30 to 18.30
  • Salary: £11.28 per hour
  • Permanent position

What you'll bring:

  • A can-do attitude and flexible approach to working
  • Excellent attention to detail, plus good communication skills
  • Previous experience (at least 6 months) in a similar role
  • Able to work independently and as a team member
  • Catering qualifications: City & Guilds 706/1 or equivalent
  • General knowledge of health and safety procedures
  • Basic Food Hygiene Qualification

What you'll do:

  • Be a vital part of the cateringoperation and ensure our busy kitchensrun smoothly
  • Assist with the preparation, cooking, baking and serving of food and beverages for patients, staff and visitors
  • Preparation and baking of snacks & cakes for the Hospice Coffee shop
  • Keep the kitchen and dining areas clean and tidy

Job Purpose

To prepare, cook and serve food and beverages to patients and to keep kitchen and dining areas to a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness.

Key Relationships

ASSISTANT CHEF

Key Responsibilities

1. To prepare, cook and serve food and beverages to patients, including the preparation of trays and trolleys.

2. To maintain food stocks as required, including listing and ordering them as required.

3. To clean kitchen areas including ovens, fryers, hobs, dishwashers etc.

4. To wash up cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils after each meal.

5. To maintain high standards of Health, Safety and Hygiene and to undertake training as required.

6. To maintain confidentiality in respect of any information about hospice patients and their families.

7. To communicate sensitively with patients as required when discussing individual requests and requirements.

8. To assemble and dispose of any food waste / disposable items for collection.

9. In the absence of the Housekeeping Services Supervisor, to be prepared to carry out other duties to ensure the continued smooth running of the kitchen.
