Job summary
Abbey Medical Practice is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Salaried GP, working 6 to 8 sessions per week, to join our long established, friendly and professional team. Primarily onsite at Abbey Medical Practice, with occasional requirements for remote working, home visits, or care home visits within the local area when necessary.
A Day in the Life of a Salaried GP
Your day begins with morning surgery, offering a mix of routine and same day appointments supported by an experienced, well organised administrative team. You'll work closely with fellow GPs, nurses and our wider multidisciplinary team, sharing insights and discussing complex cases to ensure patients receive the best possible care.
Late morning may involve telephone consultations, reviewing test results, completing clinical paperwork, or addressing prescription queries. You may also conduct a home or care home visit when needed, supported by the practice team.
After a break, the afternoon session includes a varied mix of follow ups, chronic disease reviews and urgent care appointments. Throughout the day, you'll be part of informal clinical discussions, contribute to practice development, and support audits or internal meetings.
Each day is stimulating, varied, and well supported offering a balance of autonomy and collaborative teamwork.
Main duties of the job
Whether consulting face to face or by telephone, you will diagnose and treat a wide range of chronic and acute illnesses, as well as support the management of long term conditions. Soft skills are important we are seeking a GP who is caring, compassionate, approachable, and patient focused.
You will provide the full range of primary care services as part of the practice clinical team, ensuring excellent standards of patient care for our diverse population.
Clinical Responsibilities
In accordance with the practice timetable, you will undertake duties including:
- Surgery consultations (face to face and telephone)
- Responding to queries and managing clinical documentation
- Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
- Home visits and care home visits as required
- Making professional, autonomous clinical decisions
- Recording clear, accurate and contemporaneous notes
- Supporting and participating in audits
- Reporting significant events to the management team
