Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Salaried GP to join the friendly and forward-thinking team at Riverside Surgery in Evesham, part of Vale of Evesham PCN and proudly supported by Vertis Health. We are looking for a motivated, newly qualified GP (CCT from August 2023 onwards) to join us for 6 to 8 sessions per week in a supportive, sociable, and patient-focused environment.

Riverside Surgery is a high-performing, semi-rural practice with over 15,000 patients, operating from a modern, purpose-built site in the heart of the Worcestershire countryside. We pride ourselves on our strong teaching ethos, excellent patient feedback, and family-friendly team culture. Regular morning huddles, coffee breaks, and Parkrun socials are just part of what makes our team special.

You will benefit from a structured induction, one-to-one mentorship, and dedicated support for portfolio development. Our large multidisciplinary team includes a range of ARRS professionals, making workloads manageable and allowing you to focus on delivering excellent care.

This is a great opportunity for a newly qualified GP seeking a warm, collaborative, and forward-thinking environment where your development and wellbeing are truly valued.

Main duties of the job

As a Salaried GP at Riverside Surgery, you'll deliver high-quality, compassionate primary care to a diverse patient population in a semi-rural Worcestershire setting. Your duties will include a mix of face-to-face and remote consultations, home visits, triage, and clinical decision-making for both acute and long-term conditions. You'll also manage test results, repeat prescriptions, referrals, and associated administrative duties to ensure continuity and safety of care.

You'll work alongside an experienced clinical and non-clinical team, supported by an extensive Additional Roles (ARRS) workforce, and contribute to a collaborative, patient-first environment. Responsibilities include mentoring junior clinicians, participating in clinical meetings, and engaging in quality improvement, audits, QOF, and service development activities.

You'll have the opportunity to get involved in teaching, develop special interests, and influence the future of the practice. We promote innovation and new ways of working, with protected time for CPD, portfolio development, and team reflection.

This role offers structured induction, regular mentorship, and flexible working options within a supportive and sociable practice committed to clinical excellence and work-life balance.

About us

SW Healthcare Trading As Vertis Health is a fast-growing provider of community-based healthcare services to NHS patients within South Worcestershire. The organisation utilises the excellent clinical expertise that already resides within the local NHS environment and harnesses it with efficient administration pathways to provide patients with more convenient and accessible services. We hope that by doing this we will not only deliver pathway improvements to patients but also go some way to relieving the growing volume pressures that are being experienced within local hospitals and GP practices.

Job description

Job responsibilities

What your day-to-day might look like

You will start the day with a relaxed coffee and morning catch-up with your GP colleagues: a valued part of our culture that encourages informal discussion, support, and teamwork. You will have a structured list of patients, supported by an experienced administration and reception team who shield GPs from unnecessary tasks and streamline your working day.

You will have a balance of remote and face-to-face consultations, dealing with a variety of clinical presentations across all age groups. Whether it is a young patient needing reassurance, a patient with a long-term condition needing review, or an elderly patient requiring home visiting support, the variety and continuity of care keep the work both interesting and rewarding.

Throughout the day you will also have protected time to catch up on test results, letters, prescriptions and admin. Our clinical systems are well maintained, and we have robust protocols in place for repeat prescribing, safeguarding, and clinical governance.

If it is your duty day, you may support triage, undertake home visits, or manage urgent on-the-day issues, always with clinical peer support close by.

In between clinics, you may take part in teaching, support a medical student, contribute to a case discussion, or join a short lunchtime meeting on QOF or audit. Our clinical meetings are inclusive, well attended, and provide space to shape how we work.

What we offer

  • A structured induction and mentoring programme tailored to newly qualified GPs

  • Protected time for CPD, appraisal preparation, and career development

  • Support to develop clinical special interests or portfolio careers

  • Opportunity to participate in quality improvement, teaching, or leadership roles

  • Flexibility to support your work-life balance, personal commitments, or additional roles

  • Tier 2 visa sponsorship if required

Who were looking for We are looking for a motivated and compassionate GP who is ready to begin their career in an environment where they will be supported, challenged, and given the space to develop. You will be expected to contribute to the wider clinical team, provide high-quality care, and be willing to share your ideas and enthusiasm for general practice.

Essential criteria:

  • GMC registration with a licence to practise

  • CCT achieved from August 2023 onwards

  • Not previously employed in a substantive GP role

  • Eligible to work under ARRS funding terms

  • Commitment to high-quality, person-centred care

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Desirable qualities include an interest in teaching, quality improvement, or developing a specialist clinical area. However, we are also happy to support you in discovering where your interests lie as your confidence grows.

Why Riverside What sets Riverside apart is our team. We are a sociable, family-friendly practice with a genuine sense of camaraderie. Colleagues stay, trainees return, and patients consistently tell us how much they value our continuity and care. We value each member of the team and take time to invest in wellbeing, team events, and opportunities to grow together.

We believe general practice is still one of the most rewarding careers in healthcare, and we are proud to support the next generation of GPs to thrive in it.

Our practice at a glance

  • List size of 15,700 patients

  • EMIS Web clinical system

  • Dispensing practice

  • Purpose-built premises

  • Rated Good by CQC

  • High QOF achievers

  • Training practice for GPs and medical students

  • Dedicated ARRS team

  • On-site nursing and administrative support

  • Close working relationship with the PCN and federation

About Vale of Evesham PCN We are one of seven practices making up the Vale of Evesham Primary Care Network, serving over 62,000 patients. You will benefit from shared learning, peer support, and the opportunity to be involved in PCN-wide initiatives.

About Vertis Health Vertis Health is a federation of GP practices across Worcestershire, representing more than 600,000 patients. Through Vertis, we benefit from shared resources, development programmes, and enhanced services allowing us to protect the independent spirit of general practice while evolving to meet the needs of modern healthcare.
