Job summary
We are seeking a motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our Worcester City PCN. This new role is an exciting opportunity to support the PCN in delivering high-quality, patient-focused care while optimising medicine management across GP practices and care homes.
As a PCN Pharmacy Technician, you will work closely with GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, and the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe, cost-effective, and evidence-based use of medicines.
Main duties of the job
Conduct patient-facing and patient-supporting roles, including medicines optimisation and reviews.
Perform medication reconciliations for care home residents and community patients.
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve prescribing practices and reduce waste.
Support initiatives such as antimicrobial stewardship and quality improvement projects.
Deliver training on the safe handling of medicines and Electronic Prescription Service.
Provide leadership in medicines management across the PCN.

- Understanding of prescribing and medicines management issues
- Good clinical pharmaceutical knowledge including terminology
- An appreciation of the nature of primary care prescribing, concepts of rational prescribing and strategies to improve prescribing
- Understanding of prescribing and medicines management issues
- Relevant theoretical and practical knowledge of Primary Care Networks, General Practice and evidence-based medicine
- Awareness of systems to support the management of patients in a primary care setting, delivering pharmaceutical input and support the context of pathways of care
- Awareness of GP budgets and funding systems
- Good clinical pharmaceutical knowledge including terminology
- Knowledge and understanding of pharmacy law and ethics and current legislation
- Able to analyse and interpret prescribing data
