Job summary

Due to planned retirement, we are looking to welcome a motivated and enthusiastic salaried GP to join our friendly team.

We are a semi-rural dispensing practice of approximately 9,850 patients based in the historic market town of Evesham, on the edge of the Cotswolds, and with excellent transport links to Cheltenham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Birmingham, Oxford and London. We pride ourselves on promoting a traditional ethos of General Practice within a modern healthcare environment.

We have 8 sessions available and are very willing to split the sessions or consider a job share arrangement. We are looking for a professional who is committed to providing high standards of care and who will contribute to the development of the practice. This would be an ideal opportunity for a newly qualified GP who would be joining a supportive team in a well-established practice with excellent facilities and opportunities for personal development. A knowledge of, or interest in, Diabetes and/or Family Planning would be an advantage.

The Practice currently has 3 Partners, 2 Salaried GPs and an excellent supporting team which includes a Clinical Pharmacist, Paramedic, experienced Nursing team and a Memory Loss Adviser who works closely with our GPs and other clinicians in assessing and supporting patients with cognitive difficulties.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the postholder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including face to face consultations, telephone consultations, video consultations, eConsults and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the practice
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Acting as Duty Doctor as required
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Collecting data for audit purposes
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated and handwritten acute / repeat prescriptions
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • Undertake any medical reports for patients that are best known to yourself
  • Maintain safeguarding standard and partake in CQC inspections
  • In general, the post holder is expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Full duties are detailed within the job description attached.
