Job summary

With highly specialised clinical skills and experience, you will provide leadership to our education team and deliver specialist clinical programmes to clinicians at all levels.

You will build strong links with external education providers in order to broaden our education offer and seek to expand our income generating activities by identifying opportunities for education and partnerships.

Working in collaboration with colleagues across the Hospice, you will ensure our clinical workforce is equipped with the necessary skills to provide safe and effective care to our patients and our wider workforce have the opportunity to grow and reach their potential.

Main duties of the job

This is both a leadership and educator role; youll need to be an experienced clinician with a management style that leads and inspires a team with an excellent reputation to continue to provide high quality education and be creative to meet needs both internally and externally.

As an excellent communicator, you will have the skills and experience to deliver high quality education and forge new relationships and partnerships externally.

Job responsibilities

This role is for a Clinical Nurse Specialist/Associate Clinical Nurse Specialist or equivalent to lead the Education and Organisational Development team to plan, organise and deliver clinical and non clinical education, training and organisational development across the Hospice, ensuring compliance with national legislation.

You will build strong links with external education providers, broadening the reach of the hospice education and training offer, to support high quality palliative and end of life care and seek to expand our income generating activities by proactively identifying opportunities for education and partnerships to ensure there are sustainable income streams.

You will work in conjunction with the Higher and Further Education Institutions and other establishments to develop, plan, deliver and evaluate appropriate programmes at all academic levels.

You will work in collaboration with senior clinical colleagues to plan and ensure our clinical workforce is equipped with the necessary skills to provide safe and effective care to our patients.

You will deliver specialist clinical programmes to clinicians at all levels utilising your clinical knowledge and expertise.

Lead and manage the Education and Organisational Development team to deliver high quality training both internally and externally.

Manage the education and organisational development budget effectively.

Deliver specialist clinical training programmes to clinicians at all levels.

Develop and update educational policies to reflect local and national policy

Contribute to Hospice Board and Committees to support the achievement of relevant business plan objectives and organisational strategy.

Work with the Hospice Medical Director, and in collaboration with the Higher Education institutions, to deliver modules and develop learning opportunities for all Hospice colleagues.

Develop relationships with local colleges to build links for partnership working

Support the development of career pathways across the Hospice.

Lead the development of education programmes for staff and volunteers, based on development needs

Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement across the Hospice.

Explore diverse funding opportunities via grants and bids as required.

Oversee the organisation of placement students across the Hospice.

Lead on the promotion and uptake of apprenticeships across the Hospice.

In conjunction with the clinical educator, develop and deliver clinical competency based training

Work in collaboration with the Corporate Engagement Partners and Clinical Educator to develop various external training packages.

Work with the Medical Director to develop and oversee external courses and conferences to support income generation and education

Represent the hospice at local, regional and national meetings/groups as identified by line manager

Maintain high level clinical skills.

Expand income generating activities to ensure a sustainable income stream.

Lead a peer support quality assurance process to ensure education is developed and delivered to a high standard.

In conjunction with clinical leads, audit the educational programme on an annual basis.
