St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity providing help, advice and support to people in West Suffolk and Thetford in the final chapters of their life, who are living with long-term and life-threatening illnesses. Our services are not just for patients, but for their family and friends too. They include everything from specialist medical care to bereavement support and practical help. St Nicholas Hospice isdedicated to its vision for everyone to matter in life and death.

We are looking for an Administrator to join our Administration Team.

To ensure we provide the best care to patients and families, our behind the scenes clinical administration team is crucial in ensuring our services run effectively and proactively. They are responsible for managing patient records, coordinating appointments and referrals, and ensuring that patient records are up to date and accurate using SystmOne. The administration team provide flexible and comprehensive administration support across a number of teams including Education and Clinical but not exclusively for these teams.

As this role can often involve dealing with people in distress, an empathetic approach and excellent interpersonal skills are essential together with proven administrative skills and dedication to service users.

Main duties of the job

  • The ideal candidate will have:

    • Educated to A-Level or equivalent
    • Experience of working in a clinical/health care setting with SystmOne, not essential but preferred
    • Administrative experience in an environment that requires the use of both manual and computerised administrative systems
    • Experience in talking to members of the public, healthcare professionals and staff from other organisations on the telephone and in person
    • Experience of dealing with telephone enquiries on sometimes difficult and sensitive issues
    • Be able to work flexibly and co-operatively as part of a wider team
