Job summary

Join Our Outstanding Independent Living Team

We have an opportunity for a Therapy Assistant to join our Independent Living Team (ILT) which consists of Occupational and Physiotherapists.

The successful applicant will assist in providing palliative therapy to patients and families within the hospice, community and group settings.

The ILT seeks to promote independence, self-care and optimal quality of life for those in our care.

We work as part of a MDT supporting specialist and non-specialist staff within the hospice and the wider health setting.

We would welcome applications from those who are able to demonstrate an interest and enthusiasm for therapy work as well as those with direct palliative therapy experience.

Main duties of the job

As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the Therapy Assistant works under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist as a member of the Independent Living Team. This role supports patients, with needs related to their palliative diagnosis including those which support maintaining or improving physical function, reducing symptoms such as discomfort/pain, breathlessness, fatigue and anxiety

  • Competent in using manual handling equipment
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Evidence of care certificate or equivalent

  • Experience of lone working

  • Ideally NVQ 2/3 qualified
