Job summary

Compass Changing Lives is the new provider of the Early Intervention and Targeted Support Service in the city of Derby and Derbyshire, We have an opportunity for an Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner in Derby City and South Derbyshire on a Fixed Term Basis.

Compass Changing Lives ensures Children and Young People (CYP) access the right help, at the right time, in the right setting; the Early Intervention and Targeted Support service will remove duplication and avoid CYP/families being bounced in between services.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner is to improve access to high quality support to CYP experiencing mild to moderate mental health & emotional wellbeing difficulties.

The post holder will deliver evidence-based, therapy informed interventions to CYPF across Derby & Derbyshire. They will utilise their  skills and knowledge of psychological therapies (e.g. Low Intensity CBT) to support CYPF with mild emotional wellbeing difficulties. Interventions will be delivered face to face where CYPF live their lives, remote delivery will also be offered where necessary or preferred by the CYPF.

They will be adept in undertaking assessments, planning, implementing and monitoring a range of interventions and will work collaboratively with CYPFincorporating the use of outcome measures within their work. This work will be in accordance with clinical governance processes and professional standards.

You will be knowledgeable and experienced in working with CYP with mental health needs; completing mental health assessments, providing support and providing specialist care directly to children and young people and families.

Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be able to network with other agencies as central to the role.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant qualification in emotional wellbeing / youth work / psychology / counselling
  • Experience of the delivery of emotional health or pastoral wellbeing support to CYP

Desirable

  • Youth Mental Health First Aid trained.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working therapeutically with CYPF with low level emotional health needs.
  • Experience supporting CYPF to improve skills, knowledge & confidence in the self-management of mild mental health & emotional wellbeing issues.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues
  • Knowledge of capacity and consent issues including Gillick competence
  • Experience of working with children and young people, their families and others
  • Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders

Desirable

  • Experience of monitoring and recording outcome measures for childrens emotional wellbeing
