Job summary

Join Brandon Centre as a Senior Assistant Psychologist in our Systemic Integrative Treatment (SIT) service, delivering community-based family work with parents and carers of children aged 8 to 16 who are experiencing moderate to severe behavioural difficulties alongside emotional and relational needs.

You will work creatively and collaboratively within a social-ecological model, helping families build on their strengths, address barriers to change, and sustain progress made in Phase 1 of SIT. The role involves working primarily across the systems around the young person, including family, school, peers and community, using approaches such as pragmatic family therapies, behavioural therapy and CBT.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, resilient and thoughtful practitioner who wants to make a meaningful difference to families at a vulnerable point in their lives. You will join a supportive multidisciplinary team and receive full training in the SIT model, alongside regular supervision, reflective practice and continuing professional development.

We particularly welcome applications from practitioners who share our commitment to accessible, inclusive and high-quality mental health support for young people and families.

Main duties of the job

You will provide ongoing therapeutic and practical support to families following completion of Phase 1 within the SIT model, helping to sustain positive change and reduce relapse.

You will work directly with families through booster sessions, phone check-ins and review meetings across Phase 2 of treatment. The work will focus on strengthening sustainability plans, identifying where families may be struggling and supporting them to maintain progress during periods of challenge or setback.

Using a range of evidence-based psychological and systemic interventions compatible with the SIT model, you will deliver tailored therapeutic support which may include behavioural approaches, CBT/ ACT/ DBT-informed interventions, pragmatic family therapy, and couples work as needed.

You will collaborate closely with professionals involved around the family, including social care, education, health and other agencies, providing consultation and attending professional meetings to ensure intervention remains coordinated and responsive.

The role includes contributing to formulation, relapse prevention planning, review of progress and maintaining clear, accurate documentation in line with the SIT model. You will participate in regular supervision, reflective practice and team consultation.

This role would suit someone who is confident working systemically with complex families, can balance therapeutic support with structure and boundaries, and is motivated by helping families sustain lasting change.

About us

Brandon Centre is a long-established charity based in North London, providing accessible and flexible mental health support for young people under 25 and their families. Our services include psychotherapy, systemic family work, parenting programmes and therapeutic outreach in community settings.

You will be joining a thoughtful, committed and collaborative team with a strong shared focus on improving outcomes for young people, families and communities. We value clinical curiosity, creativity, persistence and compassion, particularly when working with families facing complex and challenging circumstances.

The atmosphere is supportive, reflective and development focused. Staff benefit from comprehensive induction, regular individual and team supervision, reflective practice, access to continuing professional development and the support of a multidisciplinary clinical environment.

This is an opportunity to work in a service that combines evidence-informed practice with flexibility, warmth and a strong commitment to social justice. We welcome applications from all sections of the community and particularly encourage applications from Black and Global Majority candidates.
