Each GPN VTS trainee will be employed by their host practice who meet a set of agreed criteria. The trainees will receive support within their employing practice from a Practice Nurse mentor and supervisor who will be an experienced GPN working at the practice. The trainees will be supernumerary and will also undergo a 12-month level 7 competency-based training programme at university, leading to a recognised practice nursing qualification.

The GPN VTS trainee will be able to specify their preferred borough/place to work in and every effort will be made to adhere to this preference, subject to clinical placements in employing practices being available.

Every trainee will have an experienced GPN as their mentor/supervisor during their training, alongside receiving support from a VTS Scheme Co-ordinator. This support will guide you through a comprehensive competency-based approach to clinical care in a general practice setting.

Trainee posts will be fixed-term for 12 months whilst you undertake the academic programme.

Please express the preferred borough for a clinical placement in your application form.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 22nd October 2023. Interviews will be held on w/c Monday 6th November 2023 via MS Teams (a link will be sent to shortlisted candidates). Please save these dates.
