Job summary
General practice has generally
embraced information technology over the last three decades and the electronic GP-held
record is arguably the most accurate and comprehensive patient record held in
the NHS at present. In todays digital world people expect to be able to
interact with services through technology. While local and national digital
strategies support this move to online interactions with initiatives such as
online consultations, video consultations, NHS App, NHS Login, electronic
prescription service, GP Online, and access to patient-held records, little
practical support has been provided to practices. In addition to interactions
with patients, more digitally based interaction is expected with colleagues,
for example through tQuest / CyberLabs order communications, electronic
referral service, CPCS, and East London Patient records. Access to support for
using these tools is limited at best.
NEL Primary Care Digital First
Programme has made a substantial investment to NEL Training Hub to maximize the
potential in general practice to support ongoing training for an initial
12-month period. Through primary care Digital First funding, NEL Training Hub
is looking to establish a team of one Manager, two Team Leaders and 14 digital
facilitators to promote and support the use of the various digital products
that are being used in practice.
Main duties of the job
The
Digital Team Facilitators are expected to work as a team. They will be assigned
to an area in NEL (Barking Havering Redbridge, City and Hackney, Newham, Tower
Hamlets and Waltham Forest). The digital facilitator is a flexible and
proactive team member with the capacity to support the Primary Care Networks
and practice teams in the transition to the digital era.
As a digital
facilitator, you will be expected to train primary care colleagues to use
digital technology which requires strong interpersonal skills as well as coaching,
and mentoring skills. The post holder will be expected to establish and maintain key local relationships
which actively contribute toward the successful implementation of the digital
programmes.
Digital
transformation facilitators must stay informed on the developments in primary
care and devise ways for them to be integrated successfully into practices
where possible.

We are a fast growing and whilst our funding streams often change, we aim to retain talent and be able to redeploy staff in other roles where possible if funding streams are not renewed.
We have a focus on enhancing the recruitment of new staff for the sector as well as retention of existing staff. Training Hubs receive core funding from Health Education England, but we also have extra commissions from NHS England & Improvement and other system partners.
WF GP FedNet is a not-for-profit Federation of 36 GP Practices in Waltham Forest. We are a private limited company who provides NHS Services based in Primary Care, pooling the skills and resources of local GPs to provide large scale services as part of the local NHS Strategy to bring more services into the Community to help people stay well and at home
