Job summary

HFEH Mind is committed to working in partnership with the NHS & other Mental Health providers to ensure more Children & Young People can access MH treatment & specialist support.

We tailor our response with appropriate services like talking therapies, peer support, crisis care, employment & housing support. In response to government plans for expansion & provision an exciting Crisis Café referred to as Circle was developed by HFEH Mind, part of the new Complex Needs Hub.

The purpose of Circle is to help alleviate mental health & wellbeing during heightened arousal or crisis with supportive therapeutic provision in the local community facilitated by the Circle team.

The post holder will be a link between the Youth Services day services & Crisis Prevention services working with CYPs between the ages of 518 who present or are referred to the service.

The role is ideal for an HCP registered practitioner or one who has relevant training, education, & experience, along with formal training in CBT interventions or equivalent.

Potential to extend, depending on funding.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will mainly deliver on site same day short-term intervention for CYPs in crisis & will carry out screenings, risk assessments, safety plans & interventions using evidence based therapeutic treatment modalities on site. You will also work to ensure a seamless transition to self-management, relevant specialist Community MH services, Social Care or other relevant partner agencies as required.

Job responsibilities

  • Other professionals working with children and young people in local CAMHS, social services, A&E, education, youth offending and the voluntary sector.
  • Other HFEH Mind departments or services to include Human resources, Safeguarding and Adult services.

Service Delivery:

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team by providing containment and care to service users attending the Circle under the direct or indirect supervision as required.
  • Facilitate the support of children and young people, their parents/carers, families referred or presenting to the Circle in the self-management of presenting difficulties.
  • Provide practical 1:1 support through onboarding and telephone engagement as required.
  • Assist in implementing the delivery of programmes of care by working in partnership with children, young people, their families and other agencies in the development of intervention plans and monitor outcomes.
  • Design training materials and co-facilitate group or workshop delivery to promote emotional regulation, crisis identification and management, mental health awareness and self-care.
  • Awareness of community resources and facilitate the appropriate signposting or referrals for service users where the need for additional support or a different response is identified and agreed with CYP, CYPs parent or carer.
  • Facilitate the delivery of workshops and peer discussion groups if required.
  • Recognise safeguarding situations; be aware of and adhere to safeguarding guidelines; know when to inform and share these concerns with the Circle team and raise safeguarding alerts.
  • Observe, report and appropriately respond to any changes in the service users physical, mental health and behaviour and discuss them with the Circle team in consultation and as part of handover huddles.
  • Support other HFEH Mind Youth Service delivery when required and agreed by Team Manager.
  • Facilitate the development of Circle service tools, materials and services including carrying out audits and preparing service data for stakeholder presentation, training, and wider service presentations.
  • Facilitate the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of crisis interventions under direct supervision of the Team Manager.
  • Participate in the regular case and service reviews or discussions and have key worker responsibilities for cases.
Service Accountability:

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the services delivered under the guidance of supervisor and the Team Manager.
  • Contribute to gathering and presenting information for quarterly monitoring reports.
  • Maintain records of clinical activity in accordance with wider and local service policies and procedures by keeping administrative processes, databases, and client records up to date.
  • Maintain accurate and timely information, documentation, and reporting systems in accordance with agreed standards, HFEH Policies, Circle Procedures and the Data Protection Act.
  • Awareness of the HFEH Mind Complaint Policy in order to promote excellence of service and consumer satisfaction.
  • Work within the constructs of and adhere to HFEH Mind and Circle agreed Covid-19 protocols/requirements.

  • Carry out mental health & risk assessments on children & young people in your care routinely and work to manage these situations effectively under supervision.
  • Discuss new assessment in the MDT team meeting and collaboratively decide on an appropriate treatment pathway.
  • Maintain an awareness of current developments in the field of CYP mental health and managing crisis by attending training courses and workshops and accessing up to date literature.
  • Participate and facilitate regular shared learning activities and developmental experiences across CAMHS.
  • Participate and facilitate service initiatives designed to improve efficiency and outcomes for children, young people and their families.
  • Ensure that all assessments and interventions are provided from an inclusive values base which recognises and respects difference.
