Job summary

A new pharmacy supply and dispensing provision is being created to service wards and community services at RDaSH. This has created the opportunity to build a new team to make it happen. This is a unique opportunity to be part of something from the ground up: shaping a modern, efficient, and patient-focused pharmacy service that directly supports the care delivered across our hospitals and community teams.

Were creating a dedicated dispensary hub at our Tickhill Road site in Doncaster to improve access to medicines, enhance patient experience, and strengthen resilience across our supply chain. Youll be joining a forward-thinking team that values innovation, professional growth, and collaboration which will enable you to play a key role in improving how patients receive their medication.

Looking ahead, the Trust intends to establish a wholly owned subsidiary by 2027 to take this service to the next level. Initially you will be employed by Flourish Enterprises and will be transferred to the new subsidiary on the same terms & conditions, once the business has been registered. Over time the business may expand into new markets such as community pharmacy and care home services, creating even more opportunities for career development and innovation.

Main duties of the job

As Pharmacy Technician Dispensary Team Manager you will -

  • play a central leadership role in the daytoday running of the new pharmacy dispensary service at RDaSH
  • Report to the Superintendent Pharmacist
  • be responsible for managing dispensary operations
  • efficiently ensure the safe and timely supply of medicines to wards and community teams
  • embed high standards of medicines governance and patient safety from the outset
  • lead, support and develop a team of pharmacy technicians and support staff
  • coordinate workloads
  • maintain robust systems
  • ensure compliance with legislation and professional standards and local procedures
  • be a key point of expertise within the service
  • support medicines procurement
  • manage supply disruptions to contribute to service improvement
  • act as a trusted professional resource for clinical colleagues

About us

Flourish Enterprises is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company. Based in Woodfield Park, Doncaster we operate out of St Catherines House which is a historic grade II listed building. St Catherines House hosts:

- The Walled Garden which is a garden centre and visitor destination

Alongside and in conjunction with these business units Flourish Enterprises provide the Vocational Pathway Programme. This programme supports individuals back into the workplace through volunteering or education by providing key skills and experiences. Flourish Enterprises also operates Woodfield24 which is a domiciliary care service delivering end of life care throughout the Doncaster borough.

  • Substantial experience at senior pharmacy technician/ Accuracy checking Pharmacy technician at approx. NHS AFC Band 5 or above
  • Previous experience of line-managing direct reports
  • Experience of supervising others and providing feedback for development
  • Education and training of staff
  • Experience of developing, reviewing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures
  • Experience of implementing change
  • Experience of quality improvement
  • Experience of the management and development of information systems

  • Up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice e.g. controlled drugs

  • Influencing / negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of hospital pharmacy systems.
  • Staff management and leadership skills.
  • Organisational and time management skills
  • Auditing and analysis skills
  • Ability to motivate and engage other members of staff
  • Experience of training delivery

  • Technician Checking Accreditation
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development in line with GPhC requirements

Desirable

  • Further relevant pharmacy or management training/qualification e.g. NHS Leadership underpinning knowledge such as Mary Seacole or community pharmacy based leadership courses.
