GP Assistant

Job summary

The purpose of the GP Assistant is to work alongside the Primary Care Network (PCN) and Practice teams to support the smooth running of clinics by performing routine administration and clinical tasks, providing efficient administrative support, and assisting in the processing of patient data. The overall aim of the position is to help reduce the administrative workload pressures of the wider clinical team including the GPs so they can focus their time on the clinical care of their patients.

About us

The employer for this vacancy will be Connect Healthcare Rotherham Community Interest Company (CIC) is a federation of 28 GP practices in Rotherham. The organisation is led by a Board of representatives from general practice in the Borough, with executive leadership from a Medical Director on a part-time basis. However this post will be on behalf of and working with Doncaster East PCN

Essential

  • GCSE grade C or above (grade 4 or above) in English and Maths
  • Willingness to undertake training and continued professional development

Desirable

  • GP Assistant Certificate qualification
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Expereince

Essential

  • Experience of working under own direction
  • Experience in a patient focused environment
  • Experience of working in a clinical role within a health care setting e.g., as a Healthcare Assistant or Healthcare Support Worker
  • Evidence of experience in wide range of administrative systems and software programmes

Desirable

  • Experience of supporting service improvement
  • Previous experience in NHS/Primary Care/Local Authority role
  • Experience of working within a medical environment
