Job Title: Night Recovery Support Worker
Location: St Clair Gardens, Coventry
Salary: £21,500 per annum
Hours: Full time (37hours) Night shifts on a rota basis, includes weekends & bank holidays
About The Service:
Providing an additional component to Coventry and Warwickshire Minds care pathway, our purpose built mental health recovery unit, St Clair Gardens, opened in April 2018. St Clair Gardens is staffed 24 hours per day by a fully trained and supported nursing, therapy and recovery support team.
The dedicated recovery centre provides care and support to adults who may currently be receiving their treatment in hospital or secure settings.
St Clair Gardens is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as a Care Home with Nursing.
The team is made up of staff experienced in supporting people when their emotional wellbeing and mental ill health means that they require hospitalisation with rehabilitation and clinical intervention.
The staff support individuals who are experiencing or have experienced severe mental distress and provides a unique blend of clinical and recovery focused care, treatment and support.
About The Role:
To provide practical and emotional person-centred support that works towards empowerment and recovery, which values equality and diversity and is proactively targeted to achieve levels of independence appropriate for each resident. To ensure the highest standard of personalised care and support is provided to clients within the Residential Recovery Centre.
All clients are seen as individuals and are always treated with dignity and respect, involving them in all discussions about care, treatment and support.
Key Responsibilities include:
- To support residents in managing self-medication programmes.
- To work as part of a team to ensure the safety of the clients and staff are maintained at all times.
- To be aware of local safeguarding policies and procedures and report any concerns immediately.
- To carry out a range of duties which ensure the wellbeing of all residents and that an effective outcome defined delivery of support is achieved.
- To act as a key worker for a small number of clients to ensure that physical, psychological, emotional, social, educational, aspirational and spiritual needs are met and maintained.
- To enhance the confidence and coping abilities of the clients through encouragement and constructive feedback, enabling clients to develop their inter-personal skills and social contacts.
- To assist residents in developing their living skills (including budgeting, shopping, menu planning and cleanliness of their environment), providing light touch advocacy support.
- To work within confidentiality applying the principles of data protection and record-keeping and data-sharing, and compliance with the Data Protection Act.
- To work in partnership with the team and other professionals, to ensure ongoing support mechanisms for service users who access the projects.
Essential Criteria includes:
- Experience of working in care/support.
- Proven track record of supporting people with mental health problems.
- Courage to do the right thing for clients whilst respecting their individuality.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Able to use a computer and/or other electronic device.
- Clear understanding of key issues within mental health.
- Clear understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
- Commitment to service user involvement.
- NVQ/Diploma level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care or willingness to complete training.
- Flexibility Able to work shifts over 7 days including nights/weekends/bank holidays.
- A Full Driving License is desirable.
