Job summary

As a Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner within our NHS Manchester Talking Therapies service, you will assess and support adults who are experiencing common mental health difficulties such as mild to moderate symptoms of depression, anxiety and low mood. You will typically work with clients on a one-to-one basis or in groups, offering a wide range of treatments, including online or over the phone.

Hours: This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours in line with service requirements and agile working arrangements. This will involve one evening clinic 5-8pm.

Location: Hybrid working. This role involves a mixture of working from home, our office in Old Trafford, Manchester, and community venues in Manchester on a weekly basis.

Main duties of the job

What we need from you

  • You will be a qualified PWP, as part of a certified IAPT programme.
  • You will be able to apply low-intensity therapeutic interventions to clinical problems.
  • You will be able to work with a varied case load of clients.
  • You will liaise with other service providers, working in a place-based way.
  • You will have strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • You will have good time management and organisational skills relating to the overall number of client contacts offered and clinical sessions carried out per week.
  • You will be interested in using clinical supervision positively and effectively.
  • You will need an enhanced level DBS check for this role.

Responsibilities are to provide disorder specific assessments and evidence-based low intensity interventions for people with anxiety disorders and/or depression. Offer a wide range of treatments, including telephone and online treatment. You will -

  • Manage a varied case load of clients.
  • Provide assessment and Low intensity interventions to clients drawing from CBT theories and techniques. This work may be face to face, telephone, group, or via other media.
  • Deliver a range of evidence based one-to-one or group interventions.
  • Support events within the community.
  • Promote the service, and where necessary to generate referrals.

Main duties

  1. To use a range of evidence-based tools and techniques for assessments, goals and motivating clients.
  2. To manage a varied caseload of clients.
  3. To work with groups of clients to help them achieve their goals.
  4. To collate and analyse performance data as necessary.
  5. To refer and liaise with other service providers by working in a work in a place- based way. You will achieve this through developing effective relationships with a range of internal and external services and agencies.
  6. To promote the service to communities and agencies as appropriate.
  7. To keep accurate and up to date client records and regularly monitor outcomes and progress.
  8. To ensure quality standards are adhered to and met and that audits are passed.
  9. To ensure all statutory responsibilities are followed and reported as required.
  10. Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to SHS and any relevant regulation (e.g. BABCP Code of Ethics) and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g. NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).
