Applications are invited from experienced Registered Nurses to join our Nursing Team. You will need experience, knowledge and understanding of the philosophy and principles of palliative care. Commitment and drive, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A flexible and adaptable approach are essential along with a passion for providing high standards of care.

The role encompasses the assessment, implementation and evaluation of holistic care to patients with a life limiting condition, and a drive to provide the highest quality service for our patients, and their families/ carers, through a collaborative multi-disciplinary team approach.

As a registered nurse a key part of the role will be to develop and/or improve knowledge, skills and understanding of caring for specialist palliative care patients whilst working as part of the wider multiple disciplinary team

To act as an autonomous practitioner to provide a person centered approach and evidenced based practice to assess, implement and evaluate patient care and co-ordinate care from admission to discharge. Work with the multi-disciplinary team, to provide holistic, palliative care to patients with complex needs, adjusting the programmes of care where indicated. To undertake nursing interventions consistent with evidence-based practice.To create and maintain patients records that are concise, accurate and legible, in accordance with Bury Hospice and national professional policies and guidelines.To take an active part in admission/discharge planning, including the continuing healthcare process to ensure smooth and timely transition between care settings

Desirable

  • Diploma in Palliative Care/recognised post-registration palliative care qualification

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience Recent nursing experience in a hospice and/or palliative care setting. Ability to demonstrate competency in the use of McKinley syringe drivers and medicines administration

Desirable

  • Minimum of 4 years post-registration experience Minimum of 2 years palliative care experience Experience and evidence of mentoring students Ability to use clinical computerised systems
