Newcastle GP
Services is an ambitious and innovative organisation that provides support for
our membership of GP Practices across Newcastle city centre. Based in Gosforth,
we deliver a range of services and are growing our welcoming team to
accommodate the development of Primary Care in Newcastle.
We are looking
for a talented individual to help shape and implement this exciting new
service, someone who is motivated by the opportunity to make a difference to
the health and experience of the communities that we serve.
NHS and Primary
Care experience is not essential but experience of managing your own workload,
proficient oral/written communication and organisational skills and the ability
to collaborate and develop warm relationships are all key qualities that we are
looking for. Experience in finance, Excel and an interest in furthering your
financial qualifications is preferable.
We would like
the successful candidate to tell us what hours they wish to work, and we are
open to proposals regarding flexible working.
Job Summary
Working closely
with the Finance Manage, this post will support the services we provide for our
membership.
Currently the
services include:
Managing
the financial accounting and reporting on behalf of Primary Care Networks
(PCNs) in Newcastle.
Collaborating
with external organisations on behalf of the PCNs to employ staff working with
Practices and ensure contractual compliance.
Employing
staff to deliver at scale services on behalf of the City.
Running
two practices in Newcastle.
Being
a member of the Urgent Treatment Care Alliance providing out of hours GP
support.
Running
the C19 vaccine programme for Newcastle.
Context of
the role
As of 1st
July 2019, 99% of GP Practices in England have joined a Primary Care Network as
initiated in the document Investment and evolution: A five-year framework for
GP contract reform to implement The NHS Long Term Plan. In Newcastle 7
Networks exist and Newcastle GP Services is connecting and cooperating with all
Networks with the following ambitions:
To
release Network leaders from the administrative burden associated with the
change so they focus on innovation and strategy
To
prevent duplication of effort across the City
To
foster a deep sense of trust between the Networks and the Fed and deliver John
Lewis style service.
Principal Responsibilities
To prepare monthly finance dashboards for
several PCNs
Monthly processing of payments and
receipts on behalf of PCNs
To complete monitoring returns on behalf
of PCNs
Provide the administrative support for
monthly PCN and Clinical Director meetings (agenda, minutes, venue, attendance
records, external visitors).
Population of NWRS on behalf of PCNs
To
support the financial and numbers based work associated with the vaccine
programme
To
support the financial reporting of the company and two practices that we run.
To provide
ad hoc costings and reports on request
Confidentiality
In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with,
or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and
other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff
will respect their privacy and act appropriately.
In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job
Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information
relating to patients, their carers, practice staff and other healthcare
workers. They may also have access to information relating to the practice as a
business organisation.
All such information from any source is to be regarded as
strictly confidential. Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues,
other healthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged
to authorised persons in accordance with the practice policies and procedures
relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining

The post-holder will participate in any training programme
implemented by NGPS as part of this employment, such training to include:
