Invicta Health Learning has an exciting opportunity for a senior or experienced Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) to train the next generation of HCSW's.
Invicta Health Learning provide and deliver the Kent wide recognised STEP course for HCSW's. Supporting Training and Education in Primary Care ( STEP) is a blended learning programme for those wanting to become a Healthcare Support Worker, working in General Practice across Kent and Medway. STEP is a double award that covers all elements of the Care Certificate and provides learners with a level 3 award in Health and Social Care . The underpinning knowledge and skills gained will enable the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care and enable career progression.
We are looking to recruit on a zero hours basis initially supporting the current HCSW Lead Tutor, supporting with the current STEP courses being run.
We would be keen to hear from HCSW's who may not have a teaching qualification but a passion for learning who we would support to undertake their teaching qualification.
Main duties of the job
The STEP tutor will present the learner with a fully integrated planned prepared programme made up of rich experiences encouraging active learning and clear guidance in a supportive environment. The tutor will grade assignments, provide feedback to students and keep records of student progression.

Invicta Health are a non-profit company, with a passion for primary care. We have a wide range of services such as GP surgeries, services in Urgent Treatment Centres, a Community Primary Care mental health service, the Invicta Health Learning team and the list is growing all the time.

Ensure that HCSW’s achieve outstanding progress through:
Planning, Teaching and Class Management
- Ensuring all students complete any necessary e-learning following each study day
- Deliver teaching materials through use of appropriate teaching, learning and assessment methods following course structure
- Evaluate and grade activities via the Invicta Health Learning Management System (LMS)
- Challenge thinking, foster debate and develop the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking
- Facilitate student assignments and liaising with students’ mentor to ensure student needs and expectations are met
- Be aware of and make provision for HCSW’s learning support needs and make any necessary adjustments
- Provide one to one support meetings with students as and when needed
- Make students aware of deadlines for assignments
- Provide support for students completing The Care Certificate and liaise with the mentors to ensure understanding of their responsibility
- May identify the need for developing the content or structure of modules with other staff and make proposals on how this should be achieved
- To be aware of any Health and Safety, disability, equality or welfare issues, and raise any concerns with Invicta Health Learning
- Annually review codes standards and resource pack
- Signpost students to career development
- Follow all policies and procedures set out by Invicta Health Learning
Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting - Providing a log of missing submissions and chasing students as appropriate
- Ensuring submissions have been signed by appropriate mentors and ensuring all policies/procedures have been completed by the student
- Mark and ensure all students online portfolios have been completed and are in the correct format before submission to IV
- Assess and record pupils' progress systematically and keep records to check work is understood and completed by updating each students Student Achievement Record
- Undertake assessment of students as requested by examination bodies and ensure all administration work has been submitted to examination body
- Ensuring all extensions are approved with the Lead HCSW Tutor and are in line with Invicta Health Learnings policies and procedures
- Liaise with examination bodies to ensure they are aware of cohorts’ timeframes and deadlines set for external verifier visit
