An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine to join our team at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, a busy multidisciplinary specialist palliative care unit in Chester.
The Hospice has a ten bedded inpatient unit and a Living Well Centre which provides day therapy, short courses, complementary therapy, and family support services including social work, counselling, and chaplaincy support.
Patients are referred with a wide variety of malignant and non-malignant disease at various stages of illness. There is a well-integrated multidisciplinary team comprising medical and nursing staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, chaplaincy, counselling staff, and complementary therapists. We work strategically in partnership with other local providers at the Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust and the Community Specialist Palliative Care team who are based at the Hospice.
The is a fixed term post, part time, over 3 days with a remunerated-on call commitment on a 1:5 basis. Please see the Job Description and Person specification for full details.
Main duties of the job
You will make a vital contribution to the care of patients and those important to them working as part of themulti-disciplinary team (which includes four other Speciality Doctors).Remote supervision is provided by a team of Consultant in Palliative Medicine Supportive Care UK (SCUK).SCUK also provide 24/7 2ndoncall remote support and lead two weekly Board Rounds with the MDT.Responsibilities will include the medical care of patients on the inpatient unit, medical input into the Living Well Centre, communication with colleagues in the hospital and community and attendance at multidisciplinary meetings.

If you are interested in applying for this role you will have:
- full GMC registration with a licence to practise and alongside SCUK
- a minimum of 4 years postgraduate experience with at least two years in a relevant specialty
- an interest in Palliative Medicine
- experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
