Job summary

Julias House Hospice are seeking a new Trustee to replace a member of our Board. Trusteeship is a voluntary role, with relevant expenses remunerated.

The Medical Advisor trustee will be medically qualified and ideally will have experience of working within a charity.

This is a great opportunity to guide and help Julias House hospice in its care for children and young people with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions. Julias House provides regular respite care, end of life care, sibling support, counselling and bereavement support.

The successful candidate will be medically qualified. Ideally the candidate will have experience of working within a charity.

Main duties of the job

Role of the Medical Advisor

There are four Board meetings a year, and each Trustee generally also serves on one specialist sub-committee comprising another four meetings per year. Meetings are weekdays late afternoon / early evening. Some meetings are held face to face while others are held on Zoom.

The medical advisor usually serves on the Clinical Governance committee and with other members of the Governance committee will advise on, review and ratify proposed policies and procedures as well as advise and appropriately question the senior nursing and medical team regarding the overall medical and nursing care provided by Julias House.

Trustees are encouraged to regularly check in with other trustees and the Doctors employed by Julias House.

Trustees are responsible for all aspects of the charitys governance, and must respect confidentiality.

Trustee appointments are subject to references and a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
