Physical Therapies Technician

Full-Time, Part-Time hours & flexible arrangements considered

Salary £23,949 to £26,282 per annum, experience dependant

We have an exciting opportunity for a Physical Therapies Technician to join our established team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapies technicians working across the EACH hospices.

Training will be given to develop your knowledge and skills for the post, individualised to the post holders needs.

    Main duties of the job

    The role:

    • Supports the physical therapies team with their day to day service provision
    • Has regular and ongoing support from the team to develop your competency and independence as a practitioner, alongside external training opportunities
    • Receives training and support to become a moving and handling trainer

    Responsibilities include:

    • Supporting the provision of our hydrotherapy service at the Milton hospice. This includes going in the pool and organising the sessions
    • Helping to look after the range of equipment that we use to keep our children independent, supported and comfortable
    • Supporting the safe moving and handling and positioning of the babies, children and young people receiving care
    • Helping children and young people to participate in and maximise their independence in their activities of daily living
    • Using IT resources to contribute to the effective organisation of the service we provide

    Job responsibilities

    Job Summary:

    To assist the EACH Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists in carrying out their roles insupporting babies, children and young people (BCYP) and families accessing EACHs specialistservices. This includes administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the service. Dutiesmay be directly supervised working alongside a therapist or working independently.

    To be an active part of the training delivered by the Physical Therapies Team to EACH staff.

    Responsibilities:

    • Supporting therapeutic interventions, alongside the occupational therapists andphysiotherapist, on the care floor and in the community . This includes modelling good
    • practice around moving handling, transporting children and young people, hydrotherapy, 24postural management, passive and active movement
    • Working closely with the supervising therapists exercising initiative in carrying out delegatedactivities independently within your level of competency
    • Carrying out administrative duties to support the delivery of the service. This includes recordkeeping, monitoring of caseload and maintaining spreadsheets of equipment to support itssafe use, maintenance and audit
    • Maintaining timely and accurate records and documentation in line with EACH policy
    • Contributing to and delivering therapy led training as guided by therapists e.g. moving andhandling
    • Providing direct feedback to therapists in a clear and concise way regarding therapeuticinterventions and CYP related decision making.
    • Prioritising and risk assess own work load working with support from your line manager
    • Developing an understanding and a good working knowledge of therapy equipment
    • Attend and contribute to clinical meetings
    • Maintain a high standard of clinical skills demonstrating reflective practice.
    • Undertake continued professional development, record progress to agreed competencies andlink to personal objectives. Be proactive in developing and applying knowledge.
    • Actively participate in formal and informal clinical supervision.
    • Have a flexible approach to the role, supporting Therapists with tasks when required andworking across other EACH sites as required by the post.
